Log: Cecil and Watari

Watari is searching for the perfect room for Kinnison and him to room in over winter...

Watari made his way towards what he assumed counted as Cecile's office. He braced himself for the conversation, and then knocked on the door.

A flurry of orange flowers greeted him as the door opened--it wasn't quite her office; rather, it was her bedroom, and she was in the middle of decorating it with early autumn flowers. "Sir Watari!!! Hello!! Do you want some flowers??" Cecile's face was completely obscured by a large bunch of orange mums.

"Um, no, Cecile," Watari said, brushing flowers off himself. "I actually wanted to talk about Kinnison and myself moving into the castle for the winter."

"Oh!!" She had forgotten that they were living outside of the castle. "It's going to get terrible cold--I'm glad you're not going to try living out there!!!!" Excitedly spinning around and placing the flowers in a nearby face, Cecile continued talking. "Have you thought about where?"
"To an extent," Watari admitted, stepping inside the room. "I actually wanted to ask you a favor. Kinnison doesn't like enclosed spaces, and I wanted to know if you could put us in a room with plenty of windows and possibly a balcony for the winter."

"A balcony, unfortunately I don't think I can do--we only have one balcony in Budehuc, and you can only access it through the hallway! There is no room one one, but I do know a wonderful room with a big beautiful window!!! Would you like to see?"

"Please," Watari said, giving her a tiny smile of thanks.

Unable to see his smile beneath the face mask, but sensing it in his tone of voice, Cecile gathered up her pile of castle maps and cheerfully set off down the hall. "It's a nice cozy spot for the winter too--it used to belong to someone else who moved out a while ago, but it's very clean!"

"So long as it has that big window," Watari said, following her.

Cecile looked over her shoulder while walking. "What's it like to live in the forest in the summer? I sleep outside at the front steps when it's warm, but I've never lived outdoors!"

Watari shrugged. "We have a tent, so not so different from a room."

"Are there any squirrels???"

"Plenty," Watari humored her. They mostly stayed away thanks to Shiro.

"Sometimes I like to watch the squirrels while I'm on patrol--I-I mean, I'm patrolling, of course!! They just happen to be there."

"Shiro tends to like to eat the squirrels, but what can you do?" Watari shrugged.

"Eat the... ohh..." Cecile suddenly fell silent, as if in deep thought, then abruptly rounded a sharp corner.

Watari followed. "So, this room... which floor is it on?"

"It's actually on the boat! It's a bit set apart from the other rooms, so it's quieter, but it will still be warm and cozy in the winter; the window is nice and big too--and you have a lovely view of the lake!!" Cecile took another turn, standing in front of the landing that connected the mansion with the boat.

"Ah, that sounds like it should work then," Watari said, though his final judgement would be made when he saw the actual room. Only the best would do for Kinnison.

After a few more turns and a short walk across the floor, they stopped in front of a door. "Tah dah! Of course, you may do the honors to peek inside," Cecile chirruped.

Watari nodded to her and went inside. The room was large and, true to Cecile's word the room had a very large window. He opened it and looked out, admiring the view and turned to Cecile. "Thank you, Cecile, this will do nicely, I think. I'll bring Kinnison by for a look, and tell if we'll take it."

Cecile bowed, then broke out from her professional stance and excitedly fluttered. "I"m so glad!!! I hope that with you living in the castle you'll feel safe and comfortable!!"

"I certainly will, I just hope Kinnison does," Watari said. "I don't mind living outside, but I hate having to move him indoors when I know he hates it."

Has he ever lived indoors before?" The notion never struck her until now. "What about when it snows??"

"He says he comes inside, but he doesn't like it," Watari explained.

"Well, he'll like it here, I promise!!!! And he can open the windows and go for walks too if he wants!!"

Watari had to smile at Cecile. She could be annoying at times, but her intentions were honestly good. "That will be comforting, I'm sure.'

She bowed again. "I'm happy to have helped! I will be at my room if you need anything at all, Sir Watari!"

"Thank you Cecile," Watari said. "I'll send you some orange cookies."

That brightened her countenance even more, and with an appreciative and squeaky "Thank you!!" Cecile skittered off down the hall.
