Um, excuse me I have a question.

How does someone be popular? I received a job here saying that I need to look out for squares. [...] Is anyone here a square? It's okay if you are, I'm not judgmental! But why would they care about squares in particular? [sob she thinks it means literal squares]

!phone, sob this is horrible, no clue what im even doing, how does i be poplar?

I got something similar. Can they really just assign who's popular?

I'm not sure. I don't mind being popular, but what does it entail?

As far as I can tell, it means they want us to go bother newcomers.

So they want us to welcome people! That doesn't sound too hard.

...Are the new people squares then?

I think they mean people who are unpopular... or something like that.

So they want me to catch anyone who isn't popular and scold them?

Why don't they just make everyone popular then? That way there won't be any unpopular people.

I don't think it works like that...

Then how does it work? [Yes she is taking this seriously. IT'S HER JOB MAN.]

[ Also thinking literal squares. ]

Maybe squares are just unpopular shapes? I mean, circles tend to be more practical, right?

Yes, but circles don't have any sides. Most shapes like triangles and squares do. Maybe that has something to do with it?

I guess so. That's so weird... Mayfield makes no sense.

I didn't even know being popular could be a job. Is it really that hard?

I don't think bein' popular is somethin' y'can learn to do. It's somethin' you're born with, like green eyes or a club foot.

Really? But, I don't know if I was born popular. How do you know that you were born that way?

Y'just know, mate. Y'just know.

[She thinks for a moment. IS SHE POPULAR. Ummm man she doesn't know.]

Are there any signs I should look out for? What do popular people normally do?

You have to be cool first, of course!

iinchoucat January 15 2011, 01:56:58 UTC
And how do you be cool?

hwamei January 15 2011, 02:10:18 UTC
You keep yourself up to date with everything, of course! That way, you have a lot of things to talk about. And you won't embarrass yourself like teacher does.

So being current with what's going on. That sounds simple enough. But, why do they care about 'squares'? Does it matter if someone is unpopular?
