Title: Paint The World (As You See It).
Prompt: 5trueloves; WHITE; BLACK; COLOUR.
Fandom: Dragonball/Z (some of it takes place in DB, and some of it takes place in Z).
Characters: Goku x Snow, Gohan, others; mentions: Red Ribbon Army (specifically, General White and General Silver), King Piccolo, Vegeta, Majin Buu.
Word Count: 1,144.
Rating: Light PG, I suppose.
Author's Notes: I got sick of waiting for my claim to be accepted when I already had this done Dx So I'm posting it now~ Also, some people may refer to Snow only as Suno, just in case you're confused. And I stretched canon a bit on the last part, but it just fit better that way.... (And of course I'm aware that I can't honestly write anything DBZ-related without sticking Gohan in there somewhere -.-)

Whenever she thinks about him, all she sees is white.

Maybe-- maybe, it's because he seems so pure, purer than how such a war-torn boy really should be. She smiles when she thinks about it, about his heart. She smiles because he's such a refreshing face, while everyone else panics, including her, about things she's already put in the effort to tell him about. He knows, but he grins wide, like he's the answer to their prayers. It almost kills her how confident he is -- it might kill him, too, if he isn't careful -- when she threads together the story of the Red Ribbon Army and of General White to him. How they've kidnapped the village leader, locked him up in Muscle Tower they have, and left the rest of them to fear for their lives.

After; he smiles, teeth and everything, "don't worry, I'll rescue your leader!"

The snow outside is white too. The purest of pure and, out the window, it's all she's staring at as she says, "no, Goku. These people are dangerous. I-- you can't."

Goku remains cheerful. He gets off his chair and gives her a hug. "It's okay, Snow," she hugs him back as tight as she can, like she doesn't ever want to let him go. So many bad things are happening and she just doesn't want to lose him, is all. "This 'Red Ribbon Army' isn't so tough! I already took on one of those General guys. He wasn't very strong."

He holds her at arms length. One look in his eyes and she can't help but trust him. "O-okay, Goku. If you think you can do it."

Her mother is off to the side, shaking her head. "Snow..."

"Hah, I know I can do it!" Goku laughs and that's the end of that, and before her father gets home he's off. Still he has that smile, that smile that says everything will be alright... that smile that she's sure is never wrong. He's about to either save them all or die, but he seems so okay with that.

So she just waves him off while she clutches her mother's hand.

An unsatisfactory 'Be careful!' is all she can offer him.

For Goku, the villains he fights are black, black in soul and mind and body and everything else.

The world he sees is in black and white; there's good and evil, darkness and light, with no in-between. Sure, he believes in second chances, she loves that he believes in second chances, but to the extent that he relies on it -- people don't linger in a grey patch; they can realize their wrongs and go straight from one to the other -- is nothing but wishful thinking. There's nothing perfect about the way he sees things, but it always seems to work out in the end. She's noticed as much. And she trusts him and his judgment, even with her life.

That's why, while she clutches onto her flowers and holds her eyes tight, she knows there's only one person who can save them all from the wrath of King Piccolo. Almost like her duty, she feels, is to tell them all as much. Because he is-- Goku is the answer to their prayers. Nearby, people cower. She only looks to the sky as it spreads out. Black.

"There's no hope for us! We're all gonna die!" someone cries, and they're holding onto their family because that's all they can muster the courage to do.

"Don't worry," is her automatic response. She turns with fire in her eyes and hope in her heart. It's painful how beautiful the day is, how perfect it is, and should be, for such a celebration as one for the real King. "I know there's someone out there who can save everybody," she says, "his name... is Goku."

And she knows that's enough.

Through the crowds of people going about their lives, all she notices is the colour of what he wears.

The first thing to note is the fact that his clothes are orange. Not bright or overly blinding, but perfect and familiar and she finds herself reminded of someone important to her. The look in his eyes as he scans the crowd she finds familiar as well. Only, what? who? she's thinking about had never been so serious, not like this person. No... there's more wisdom in his eyes, she notices... after years of the hardening and sharpening and maturing she was never able to see.

Pushing through the people bustling around in the market place, she finds herself standing mere inches away from him. She promptly grabs onto his wrists without fully being aware of the action, and he looks down at her with a smile, so sweet and comforting. "You have to listen to my father, ma'am, he's the one who's fighting Majin Buu. He's the reason everything is back to normal! Please, can you tell the people of your village to do what he and the other voice are telling them to do?"

Her eyes give him a once over. "...Goku?"

"Yes." He smiles wide; it's the most beautiful thing in the world. "Yes. Goku, my father, he's trying to save us. But he needs our help!"

"That's not like Goku at all--" she murmurs and frowns; he just stares, "I remember him when we were only little kids... he saved our entire village from that evil Red Ribbon Army... I wouldn't think he'd ever need help with anything when it came to saving people..." He's still staring. "Oh! Hello, I'm Snow. What's your name?"

He looks behind himself, before turning back to her. "My name is Gohan. You, uh? You were a friend of my dad?"

Snow breathes, her breath visible on the air. Her hands cup his face. Hopefully the gloves will warm his skin, she reasons. "Gohan... So you're really his son? You look just like him... I haven't seen that face in years..."

"It's very nice to have met you, ma'am, but I still need your help. If you knew my dad, then you know he's not trying to trick anybody." He sounds frantic but genuine, and she feels she doesn't have a problem with trusting him with her life as well. "So can you please help by telling these people to listen to him?"

She doesn't hesitate, "of course, Gohan. Of course!"

Gohan nods, "thank you... Snow." He looks to his feet. "Once all of this is over, maybe I can come back. I'm sure dad would love to see you again..."

She smiles like she hasn't in over a decade. "I'd like that. I'd like that very much."

And this time -- it's really all she's thinking as she sees that young man off and does her duty -- this time: she's going to help him save the world.
