So don't buy it. I've never bought any of my books save for one SQL book (because our assignments are in it) and a Oracle and Java book (those were just interesting, I wanted them for personal reference.)

In my ECE full time program, we also had to buy Compacs which were $129 for the semester. In addition to the textbooks. I had to pay $672 and $429 for the two online courses I took (in IST, not ECE I didn't make it that far), so I'd MUCH rather pay the $100! :)

But yeah, simply put...$100 is cheap compared to the money I've poured into Red River College. :P

This year, half of my required textbooks turned out to be not actually required. One instructor grumbled something about it being the fault of the bookstore, that he meant to put it down as optional but they wouldn't order it in if he did. (In his case, it was rare/out of print, so we got our own special RRC print shop edition - a lettersize, spiral bound, soft cover package for $110.) The externally written lab manual refers to equipment the college doesn't own, and reminds us NOT to throw mud balls at the ceiling.

An instructor came in to extoll the virtues of a third textbook on the first day, and hasn't taught a class since. As for the fourth text... well, the bookstore hasn't gotten it in yet.

I'm somewhat glad the rest of my courses are based on notes we download free, except that it will make it more difficult to transfer credits.

Can you split the access code with a group?

Gotta love studying English lit... at least our books are all still "analogue"!

Better than $110 for a paperback.
