Influx of New Users

Hi there,

I just started downloading and using iJournal today, and I've been really impressed by the program's versatility and interface design. I've been using XJournal for the last year or so and it's met my needs, but with the closed-beta launch of the new Dreamwidth.org journal service, I had to find another client that would allow me to ( Read more... )

I watch both iJournal and xJournal's community, so this is the second "can I use this with Dreamwidth?" question to pop up on my friends list.

What, pray tell, is so attractive about Dreamwidth over the existing sites using LJ? I went looking at their site and really couldn't find a page that sums up a mission statement.

Dreamwidth Studios has posted here about their guiding principles, but to sum it up, I think DreamWidth is putting together a much more viable, long-term journaling service that will keep the best parts of LiveJournal while adding important new features, combined with a more ethical and sustainable business model ( ... )

More appropriately, what doesn't work so far? I have been given an invite yet so if there are protocol changes of better be versioned.

hi -- new ijournal user here, support minion on dreamwidth, experimenting with ijournal because somebody reported interaction problems (turns out to be user error).

basic posting works just fine, as do moods and those things, but because dreamwidth has split the "friends" feature set into "access" and "subscribe, anything friends-related doesn't work at this point.

i am real tired and have a bit of a hard time parsing your comment, but if you don't have an invite yet, let me know and i'll give you one.

ah, yes... engrish ftw. "if there are protocol changes [to flat] they better be versioned [the version bit set to 2 (currently set to 1 pretty much everywhere)]. I do not have an invite code, but I won't complain if one ends up in my email. :)

I'd certainly be keen on an integrated LJ/DW client for the mac!

+1 for LJ/DW integration. From the look of my flist, at least, there's a lot of interest in DW, but many people plan to stay around LJ as well for quite some time.

Haha, I just tried to crack open the iJournal app in order to replace "greatestjournal.com" with "dreamwidth.org".

And I realised I am WAY not savvy enough to pull it off.

So, +1
