Sarajevo (Austria, Hungary, PG-13 for violence I guess) 49thidentity January 30 2009, 05:46:26 UTC
Bang, bang!

He wasn’t the one who’d been shot, but the bullet seared his throat, too, the metal sticking harshly in his flesh, Austria’s flesh.
Roderich gasped aloud, his hand on his neck, “No, no, it cannot be, not the Archduke…”

“Roderich!” cried his wife; Elizaveta, dear Elizaveta, stumbling into the room and clutching her stomach. She looked as if she were going to be ill. “He’s--”

The hand not massaging an invisible gunshot wound clenched into a fist. “I know.”

“Franz Ferdinand and his wife are dead.”

The Rape of Nanjing (Japan and China, PG-13) 49thidentity January 30 2009, 05:56:55 UTC
(Reposted 'cause I messed up!)

Blood dribbles messily down his chin.
Oh...a sword. It's been plunged into his chest.
He cannot feel the welts and bruises and cuts and burns anymore.
He looks at the face of the one who has so wronged him, and it is a stranger, the cold black eyes, the empty stare as he sets his home ablaze.
Though the fire wraps around his body, he is still cold. The villain leaves him.

And yet, all he can see is the small child, the one who held onto his robes and called him Brother.

Unsaid [Sweden/Finland, PG13 for reference of sex] zed_azrael January 30 2009, 06:02:31 UTC
Sweden has never been a very vocal person, and from time spent together over the centuries, Finland realises this is not going to change anytime soon.

While once this apparent lack of interest distressed Finland, it now provides a certain comfort. Sweden’s presence is solid, unmoving, and pleasantly constant. And Finland knows this silence is only external.

“I love you, Su-san.”

Sweden glances over. His glasses have been discarded during their love-making and his eyes are slightly unfocused. When he finally rests his gaze on Finland, the briefest smile warms his face and Finland beams.

Some things don’t need words.

EE! I was hoping for some Sufin, and didn't think it'd come so quickly. YOu're my hero. <3

Very beautifully expressed in such short sentences. It's what I've been feeling but have been unable to put into coherent thought, so I love you for this<3

Fakes [Russia/America - Cold War] madelineusher January 30 2009, 06:35:06 UTC
They stare at each other across a table, both of them smiling in ways that belie what hides underneath. A million words go unsaid no matter how much they talk at each other about reaching an agreement, about peace coming at last, because the words they want to say would destroy them both.

"I have no trouble with you," one says, and what he means is I hate everything that you are. The other smiles, returns the same words, the same meanings.

Finally they both stand, exchange empty smiles and empty handshakes and promises that soon friendship will be reached, and both of them dream of the other consumed by flames.

Whoah. Chilling, and that was an awesome last line! Very nice! (it helps that I'm a sucker for Cold War-related stuff. XD) I also liked "talking at each other". One little word makes a world of difference, eh? :3

Thank you so much! (Hahaha, I am too, hence why I jumped at this.) And... yeah. NOT SO MUCH WITH THE COMMUNICATION.

This is just spectacular...

...both of them smiling in ways that belie what hides underneath.
and
the words they want to say would destroy them both.
and
Finally they both stand, exchange empty smiles and empty handshakes and promises that soon friendship will be reached, and both of them dream of the other consumed by flames.

Basically every word and sentence has so much thought put into it and is incredibly effective.

I think you did an amazing job portraying the tension and the mistrust and the general ill sentiment--and in such few words! Truly fantastic.
