I have a friend who likened the Food Network to porn. Both are sources of visual stimulation, but, by themselves, do not actually satisfy.

I can totally understand. I got home from work and realized that I don't have ingredients for any of the really delicious stuff. Like calling an escort service and finding out that all she was was an escort. Shame.

When I was in high school I took a cooking class and I got really in to cooking for awhile. So my parents got me a subscription to "Gourmet" magazine and I absolutely loved it - until I realized that all of those delicious sounding recipes required ingredients you probably couldn't find outside of New York City. Sigh.

Essentially, maybe yes. I'll go into more details in an actual post, since apparently I didn't tell LJ about any of this grad school stuff. :)

Oy, I'm a Christian :P

I don't know if sociology can be helped, though.

Being a Christian isn't a problem at all, necessarily. But she likes to have theological discussions, and we've already gotten to the "well, I think you're wrong" point a couple of times. Which makes the dating thing more complicated. As for the Sociology... I don't know any good sociologists yet, so I've got to add one to my collection!

I like having religious discussions. It seems to me that in the US you can talk about sex and bizarre shit like butt plugs more easily than you can talk about faith. It is hard to find someone who is willing to even say words like "God". This is one of the many reasons why I love teh Fellmama.

Religious discussions can be great - the trouble is, I have an even harder time articulating ideas than usual. And, unfortunately, 'agreeing to disagree' isn't particularly encouraged. Still, it's definitely better to have discussion - hopefully, since we've made such progress on sex talk over the last few decades, religion will be soon to follow.

I thought I posted a reply D:

Hugz for Ike.

I am doing better now that I am making some progress in watch class. I would have definitely quit school if things had continued like last week.

Post more! Oh! I have a request: How about some pictures of your home/school/city? What is it like there?
