I'm still having trouble realizing that last night wasn't just a dream... and unfortunately, I don't mean that in the romantic/innuendo sort of way. I'd actually managed to get to relax last night and get to bed early - a first in... over a month, I think - but I gradually woke up around 3:45 am to an odd but familiar sound. My doorknob was ( Read more... )

Hey! You live! Just don't go getting all brutally murdered in your bed, please? That is simply unacceptable!

But please do update more. Even if it sounds like a boring story to you, it is good to know you are alive and not you know, stabbed and dying on the floor while Sammy looks for his missing friends in your fridge.

Well, that one didn't sound particularly boring, at least to me. :) But I will try to post more. Even if it is just ye olde daylie lyfe. With bad speling.

Furthermore, I have no intention of being brutally murdered, especially not in bed. While I'm not holding out too much hope for renovations to my door/building, I am keeping my eyes and options open for somewhere else to live.

Tonight while I was at a bar someone a block and a half away got their face shot off. And lived. I feel your pain (sort of).

Well, not so much confident in the bolt as I was in Sammy's extreme intoxication.

I've gotten two kinds of reactions: "Oh, whatev; that happens all the time." and "You didn't call the police?!?!" So... I guess my reaction is uniquely in the middle. But I've promised to let the authorities handle it if Sammy comes by again. :)

Clearly, you need more heavy furniture in your apartment. Or at the very least, a tiger trap.

Hmm... I don't think I have much furniture that could be usefully propped against the door. But the coffee table is light enough that I could probably use the steel frame as a very large club.

The number for the police if you NEED them is always 911. At least in cities. And you're in a city. If you try to call a local number you'll either get 911 by accident or a giant answering-machine-voicemail-tree.

If you needed the police for this situation (remove an unruly person) it would have been 911. If you see a piece of debris in a roadway or want to report a parking infraction or complain about an ongoing problem then you call the local number between 9 and 5, Monday through Friday.

Anyway ... I guess I've called 911 more than anyone I know though...

Anyway ... eek!

More importantly, A, J, J, and I (another A) can't wait to see you next month, we should work that out ...
