Ok, so thanks to gay.com and all that other shit, we are going to have to check my BRAND FUCKING NEW computer into the nursing home. First it was the pop ups, then it slowed down, then the mouse kindof stopped working, now the mouse won't work at all and it constantly tells me the internet is unavailable. My point is this, right now I'm down in ( Read more... )

I get paid to answer tech questions =P

Sounds like you have a lot of spyware. I recommend getting either (or both) Spybot and Ad-Aware. You can find either by searching google / yahoo / metacrawler, or at www.download.com.

If the mouse isn't working, but Windows isn't telling you that there's a problem, then you probably just need it cleaned out, unless it's an optical mouse in which case I'm not sure what the problem is.

To everyone reading this: Be careful. There's a new trojan out that likes to infect people via unprotected websites if you use internet explorer. I recommend going to www.mozilla.org and downloading that web browser (and it conviently has a pop-up blocker). Spybot will additionally prevent any spyware from being installed, if you tell it to.

And if you're really desperate, you can buy a new harddrive, and tell your old one how much you love it, in this way.

I am forever in debt Will!! Thank you. I will try those, I think as for the mouse (since it's wireless) the batteries may be dying. I had the personal firewall and some other pop-up blocker installed, but I am more than happy to try your suggestions. My comp is just a baby, I don't need it dying on me now. So, I will try this and let you know... I finally did a system restore just so I could get it working again :(

Is the mouse laser or trackball? It's the inner-workings of the trackball area that get dirty. If it's a trackball, open it up, and just wipe the dirt off the rotars. If it's a laser, you may need to try the batteries. You can test it by trying your mouse on a friend's computer.

it's laser. I put in new batteries and we are doing fine so far. I think it was just drained from all the pop-up clicking... :)

Hmph! You planned this as an evil plot to postpone my ability to create the most supreme LJ. I am on to you. Oh well, gotta finish checking out the Miami-WV game. WV is winning. With like a minute to go. They are only winning by one point. But yes, we may postpone all LJ activities.
