a different christmas

Grandma is in the hospital this Christmas. Truth be told, she has been in the hospital since shortly after Thanksgiving. And she was in the hospital for a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, too. She was home for Thanksgiving, though ( Read more... )

sorry about the difficulties. I'm sure she's happy when her family and loved ones are around at least. Good to know it was still a good Christmas. how old is she now?

I think she's 86. Pretty sure. Ok, mostly sure. Kind of sure?

She is happy having people around, though she didn't always know it was Christmas. "What day is today?" "It's Christmas." "Today is Christmas?" That conversation happened 3 or 4 times while I was there.

But Grandma still knows how to time a joke.

She sneezes (the oxygen line dries out and irritates the sinuses something fierce).
"Bless you," says everyone in the room.
"Oh, I'm just looking for attention," she replies.
Grandma's a funny ol' girl.

They kept telling us different days for bringing Gramma home too. Frustrating, but I'm glad you got to spend some time with her. Sounds like she's got some spunk to her.
