Um....part of me REALLY wants to hear more about that umbrella incident, but most of me is just flailing as far away from the thought as possible.

It's not nearly as interesting as one might initially assume. In fact, it's a pretty common occurrence, unfortunately. It goes a little something like this: Rain in forecast + City full of pedestrians = Large number of long, pointy umbrellas. Couple that with jackasses who can't seem to stop swinging their arms in gigantic arcs as they walk and you have yourself a high probability of umbrella-ball contact. I have thus far managed to avoid such an unfortunate incident, but the sheer number of near misses that have occurred is quite staggering.

I fear the day when I fail my saving throw vs. umbrella.

It seems like your goal should then be to somehow lower the probability of umbrella-ball contact. I would start with the jackasses who can't seem to stop swinging their arms in gigantic arcs as they walk. WTF, Townshend Wannabes?

I usually try to lower that probability by working from home on days when there are likely to be a large number of carried umbrellas. Unfortunately, one can only play the "work from home" card so often before ones superiors begin to take notice. Once a week is about the limit.

Write about it in LJ so your LJ Friend list feels better about their broken Thursday morning? Check.

Thursday morning hangovers are indeed the worst. To say nothing of the other stuff.

In retrospect, I'd say the hangover was the best part of my day.

Is it terribly rude that I laughed out loud at your misfortune? If so, sorry.

Not at all. You kind of have to laugh at the savage perfection of a day gone so horrifically wrong right from the beginning.
