Even sometimes when she was around. But she was always too scared to do anything. Too scared to fight back. Only thing she could do was try to comfort her young son and bringing ice packs to place over his swollen face, pale skin mottled with bruises.
Luke was only 7 at the time.
The next person that gives him bruises to remember comes a little later in his life. He had run away from home, desperate to find some sort of excitement in his life. The opportunity had came when he and his mom returned home one day and found a bruised and bloody man tied up in a chair in their living room and another man nonchalantly sipping tea while waiting for them. Luke ended up being his very own savior. Knowledge of a certain taxidermist kept him alive.
The road trip ended abruptly. His bruises are faint now. Little barely there bruises from invisible fingertips around his neck. His life almost taken away from him. But somehow, he got away with his life. He had run far away, wondering what he had done wrong to make Sylar turn on him like that.
She had smiled a grim and knowing smile when he ran into her at a little run down cafe on the side of a lonely road. Her eyes raked over the marks on his neck and in turn, she brushed away her blonde bangs to reveal a fresh scar across her forehead. He then understood her smile.
He watches her blue eyes grow dark and her features twist in anger as she thinks about him. A bright blue sphere lights up in the palm of her hand and before he knows it, she's aiming that light at him. Marks him, leaving burns and purple bruises on his body. Some sort of twisted payback for him getting away with his life while Sylar had killed her.
Bruises. He can't ever seem to get away from them.
