I just want my exams to be over (NOVEMBER 25, COME SOONER) so I can watch Heroes and read my reading list. which is under the cut. So, you know, rec me stuff. I like strong female characters, happy endings (or books composed of mainly happy), fantasy and sci-fi, anything with time travel. go go go!

judge these books if you will, I'll listen ;D )

Great reading list! I have so many books to read and I keep making lists and then I read different books. But I am definitely reading Tess of the d'Urbervilles soon.

Looks like an awesome list! If strong female characters and sci-fi's your thing, then I still recommend Timothy Zahn's Star Wars books. Mara Jade for the win! :D

ooh! I shall add it to the list. I don't think I've read any books that come AFTER the series ends. I know some of the canon that pops up, but mainly I've stuck to pre-series. so ooh how interesting :D *adds to list*

Oh, those are like, the only Star Wars books I read! I don't find the pre-series nearly as interesting. I think it's because I'm more interested in going forward instead of expanding on what already happened.

But really, you pretty much just have to read the ones written by Zahn. The other books are either poorly written, wall-bang inducing, or are just depressing as hell.

Do you need the list of his books? I can type that up for you in two seconds. :B

it's my favourite series and i read them so much - no kidding. the writing is EXQUISITE and so on topic and it all fits together perfectly! and then the characters? I LOVE THEM! even the villains are epic and you can't help but admire them. just a warning, it is a bit risque and sexual but i mean that's to be expected when the main character is a courtesan ;)

Is it just me or did you put Coraline in there twice on purpose? ;))

I got bored halfway through Great Expectations too. Apparently the second half is the better half. Hummmmmmm... but Pip is a dick! Stupid antagonistic protagonists.

Strong female characters? Well maybe, but not in Great Expectations!! :DDD

haha, I was collating different lists I had, and apparently two had Coraline! SO I MUST READ IT :D

yeahh, I feel like I've made it through half way, I can do the rest! haha, Great Expectations came from my 'Classics I own and probably should read because then I will feel clever' hee.

I know! ah well, I'll endure ;) I may have to mix it up with another book so I don't get too frustrated!

It's fate, darling

Yeah, fair enough. I'm reading a book right now mixed with um, so many books. Maybe I should give up? It's a good book, it's just rather dry, you know??

Haha I have mixed feelings about Blood and Chocolate, but that's only because I saw the movie first (very diff from the book) and had certain things I loved so much that I was hoping would be extended in the book...

BUT I WAS WRONGGGGG..... dun dun dunnnn....

Jumping into the convo, but I just wanted to add my two cents. I read the books, and liked it enough. I liked The Silver Kiss more, but hey.

I fast-forwarded through the movie. It wasn't that good of a movie to begin with, and it TOTALLY changed what happened in the book. The ending was completely different, and I think that kinda ruined the message of the book.

I guess that's the thing about reading the book before/after watching the movie. So I suppose our opinions are biased that way :P Though in general, I liked the movie better (if you keep away from how much you want it to stay true to the book) I'm much more partial to the characters and their motivations in the movie, though LOL, I think the ending in the movie was a let down in general anywayyyy!
