Title: Worst Boyfriend Ever
Character: Dongwoo x Hoya
Worst Boyfriend Ever
Hoya was kicking my heels again for Dongwoo. He wondered if it was so hard for him to come to their date at least 5 minutes early. Glimpsing at his wrist watch, he heaved out a sigh. It will be the fifth time Dongwoo came late, this time included.
He and Dongwoo had been dating for more than a year now and still Dongwoo couldn’t understand Hoya. His acts, his words, always made Hoya hurt or mad. Letting out another sigh, he stood up from the bench he was sitting and decided to walk away. It was useless for him to wait anymore. Step by step he took; he recalled back all their memories.

‘What is this?’ Hoya raised an eyebrow when Dongwoo gave him a scarf in the café.
‘Valentine present.’ Dongwoo simply answered as he sipped his juice.
Hoya frowned and said,
‘But valentine was two weeks ago.’ Depression was echoed in Hoya’s voice.
Of course he was depressed when Dongwoo didn’t give him anything last valentine and he didn’t give Hoya a call or meet each other.
‘Really? I forgot again then.’ Dongwoo scratched his head, lying.
And Hoya could see through the lies in his eyes. He was pissed off. His heart hurt.
‘I want to go home.’ Hoya just grabbed the scarf on the table and walked off the café.
Just like he thought, Dongwoo didn’t chase him. He didn’t even try to grab his wrist and stop him from going. But he was sure Dongwoo knew how mad he was. And why must he give him a scarf as a present for valentine? Everyone knows valentine was all about chocolate. Is it that hard to give him even a piece of chocolate bar in valentine day?

Hoya forgave Dongwoo for the entire valentine thingy and decided to ask Dongwoo out for a date. He was leaning against the wall at the college building, waiting for Dongwoo to finish his class. Dongwoo agreed to go out with him. Now, Hoya was smiling. He didn’t know but everytime he was going out with Dongwoo, he was happy, even thinking about it.
‘Sorry I’m late.’ Hoya recognized the voice before had to turn around to the voice.
But when he did, his eyes were widened than usual. Sungjong was clinging at Dongwoo, his boyfriend.
‘What is this?’ Hoya asked, glaring at Sungjong.
‘Oh, the maknae wants to go to the amusement park too, so I invite him. I hope you don’t mind’ Dongwoo answered not knowing his answer will hurt Hoya.
‘Of course I mind!’ Hoya wanted to shout it but he suppressed his words.
Hoya wondered if Dongwoo understood the meaning on the word ‘Date’ was. It was only for 2 people and not 3!
‘On the second thought, I think I want to go straight home.’ Hoya said, hoping that Dongwoo will understand him.
But his hope was useless.
‘Okay then. Let’s go Sungjongie.’ He said to Sungjong and both of them walked away.
Hoya didn’t know how long he could stay with Dongwoo.
*****
Hoya was walking down the hallway in college when Dongwoo suddenly appeared in front of him.
‘Why didn’t you tell me?’ That was the first question that came out from Dongwoo’s lips.
Hoya rolled his eyes as Dongwoo never bothered to apologize every time he made him hurt.
‘Do I have to tell you everytime I take the train home?’ Hoya asked back.
It was true Hoya always went back on foot but last night he was too lazy so he took the train.
‘Of course. I’m your boyfriend.’
His answer only made Hoya smirked.
‘Such a boyfriend I have.’ Hoya answered and walked passed Dongwoo.
‘What’s that supposed to mean?’ Dongwoo asked tailing the younger.
‘Nothing.’ Hoya said as he didn’t stop walking away from Dongwoo until Dongwoo touched his arm, making him stop.
It was a quick touch. Yeah, these days, Hoya only received quick touches from Dongwoo. Not even a hug he received from Dongwoo.
‘What’s wr-‘ Dongwoo’s words trailed off the moment he saw there were tears in Hoya’s eyes.
‘Just leave me alone.’ His voice was hoarse.
Hoya walked off the place, leaving Dongwoo froze there.
*****
Sometimes, Hoya hoped that he could go back to the time where he first met him. He hoped that he wouldn’t fall for him in first sight. He hoped that his heart stopped beating so fast every time he was around Dongwoo.
He sighed as he stopped his pace. He looked around, thinking whether he should go back or not. He was sure Dongwoo must be waiting for him now, or not. If there was an award of ‘Worst Boyfriend Ever’, Hoya was hundred percent sure Dongwoo will win it.
But then, he smiled. Hoya knew how bad Dongwoo being a boyfriend but he also knew how sweet Dongwoo could be. If he didn’t know the truth behind Dongwoo’s actions, he will dump Dongwoo for sure.
On the last valentine, Dongwoo knew how much Hoya hated sweet things. So, he decided to make something special for Hoya. But because he was busy with his classes he had to stay up late to finish the scarf. He knitted it himself and even entered a knitting class. He woke up late on valentine day and didn’t get a chance to call Hoya and plus the scarf was not finish yet. That’s why he gave the present late. He knew Hoya will be mad, but he wanted it to be special for him.
As for their dates, Hoya also knew the truth behind them. Dongwoo always made excuses that he couldn’t come for their date because he knew how tired Hoya could be after his classes in college. And Dongwoo was the one who realized Hoya was pushing himself hard on his studies in college. He wanted to give Hoya some time to rest.
And about the train thing, Dongwoo was always worried everytime Hoya took the train by himself. If he told Dongwoo that he wanted to take the train, Dongwoo needed to be with him. Dongwoo will accompany him because Dongwoo knew Hoya always took a nap in the train and missed his stop. Dongwoo was the one who woke Hoya up when they arrived. Without him there, Hoya won’t have a shoulder to lean on.
How did he know all of this? Hoya figured them out because deep inside Dongwoo’s heart he knew he loves him so much.
Just before he knew, he was standing at the bench again. Yes, he turned back.
‘Sorry I’m late, baby.’ It was Dongwoo.
Hoya just turned around to look at his eyes.
‘Did you wait for so long?’ Dongwoo asked as he worried that he hurt Hoya.
Hoya smiled and shook his head.
‘I’m glad then.’ Dongwoo grinned at him as he was relieved to see the smile on his face.
‘Let’s go.’ Hoya said.
Just before Hoya could walk, Dongwoo intertwined their fingers and led the way.
‘You’re acting weird.’ Hoya smiled as he was happy that Dongwoo held his hand.
‘Weird is good sometimes.’ He replied, smiling.
Yeah, weird is good for their relationship. Hoya didn’t want to let go of Dongwoo because the way Dongwoo care about him behind his back was the most special thing in his life. But he still had to admit Dongwoo is the worst boyfriend ever.
‘Do you know you’re the worst boyfriend ever?’ Hoya teased him.
‘I know and that’s make you unable to leave me.’ He grinned, knowing Hoya understood him better than anyone else.
But actually, Dongwoo understood him more. And that makes him an irresistible boyfriend ever.
