 Angel

Day by day passes by
We've grown to look more like each other

Woohyun took out the ticket from the ticket machine and headed to the train. He shrugged his scarf a bit just to fix it position around his neck. Not being able to be cold, he shoved his hands into his pockets, waiting for the train.

His lips twitched as he was kicking his legs for the train. An image of someone crossed his mind. He couldn’t stop the smiling off his face although he knew someone would call him being a weirdo acting like that. But he shook the thought of people calling him a weirdo, because he loved it so much when the image of that guy came into his mind, playing like a song.

Glimpsing at the screen of the monitor which showing the time for the next train to arrive, he moved his feet to the vending machine near him. In less than 13 minutes, the train will arrive and he felt his throat deserved something to cool down as he used up his voice for singing class today. College was hard these days. He had no time to rest or, to be with that particular guy.

Inserting coins in the machine, he moved his hand to push the button. Like usual juice was his choice but this time his hand froze just before he could push it. He recalled back a scene he made with that guy here, on the same spot.

‘I don’t want juice.’ Sunggyu whined at Woohyun as he tried to stop Woohyun from picking juice.

‘I want juice.’ Woohyun stated.

‘But I don’t like juice.’ It was true. Sunggyu never liked sweet drinks or things. He preferred coffee.

‘And I don’t like coffee.’ Woohyun didn’t let a chance for the elder to win this time. ‘Plus, this is my money.’

‘You’re so stingy.’ Sunggyu rolled his eyes, knowing how stingy his boyfriend could be all the time and he was not an exception.

‘I can’t deny that.’ Woohyun grinned as he pushed the juice button.

Sunggyu glared at him, as his eyes looked at him picking up the juice can. He was angry-no furious. Not because the juice, but his attitude.

‘Can you just give in once for me?’ Sunggyu raised his voice as he was pissed off.

Woohyun just eyed him, not moving a finger. He blinked his eyes a few times, giving Sunggyu a sign that he didn’t understand what he was trying to say. There were tears in Sunggyu’s eyes.

‘For once…let me win.’ Sunggyu was sick of letting Woohyun did whatever he wanted.

Woohyun was still perplexed, or more like he didn’t know what to say. But it was Sunggyu, who wiped his tears off his face. He forced a smile which he never knew he could in his mix emotions.

‘Let’s go, or we’ll miss the train.’ Sunggyu was the one who held Woohyun’s hand.

Woohyun didn’t know what to say or react. They were silence in the train. Not even a word came out from both lips. They were like strangers that never met before.

They were the opposite. Always like that ever since Woohyun asked him out. Sometimes, the others couldn’t stop thinking how the two could date with the differences that everyone could see. Woohyun preferred tight clothing while Sunggyu always wears comfortable clothes, usually baggy pants. Sunggyu spends his free time, reading or cleaning the house. But for Woohyun he rather goes out to hang out with his friends.

But everyone knew they had been strong because of Sunggyu. He was the one who back off everytime he fights with Woohyun. He knew how sensitive Woohyun is. Or how fragile Woohyun is.

Woohyun wasn’t the one who accept his fault when they fight.

Nope. Sunggyu did.

Woohyun wasn’t the one who coax Sunggyu when they fight.

Nope. Sunggyu did that too.

Woohyun wasn’t the one who show his affection to Sunggyu.

Nope. That would be Sunggyu.

Woohyun smiled bitterly as his mind kept on playing the scene like an old movie. Inhaling some air, he changed his mind and pushed the coffee button. As the coffee can dropped, he picked it up but didn’t open it yet. Instead, he walked back to his waiting place.

The sound of train rang in his ears as a sign the train had arrived. The moment the door opened he walked in and sat on the seat where Sunggyu loved to sit. Even Woohyun wondered why he loved to sit there. As usual when they got in train, Woohyun will lean against the door. He knew it wasn’t allowed but hey it’s his weird habit. But sitting at Sunggyu’s usual seat, now Woohyun got the answer.

From here, he could see the door clearly. So his instinct was right all this time. Sunggyu was eyeing on him everytime they’re in the train. Woohyun smiled a bit, finding it a bit funny. Sunggyu really loved to watch him that’s for sure.

Woohyun then felt a feeling in his heart. It was like a hole in his heart. Yeah, he knew that feeling. He missed him. He missed Sunggyu so much now. It had been a while since they met due to Woohyun’s busy schedule.

His eyes then shifted to the coffee can that his hand was holding. He smiled as he pulled out his phone from his pocket.

Baby, I miss you.

He texted that. For some reason, he sounded horny but he didn’t mean like that. He really missed Sunggyu. He sent it. But then a feeling aroused in his heart. He kept on thinking what if Sunggyu didn’t read the message.  This time, his fingers brushed the screen of his phone, dialing a number. But no one answer, until Woohyun heard,

‘Hey. If you’re hearing this that’s mean I’m not home. If you love me leave me a message and if you want to waste your time, my home is always open.’

It entered the voice mail. Just after the beep, Woohyun did left a message.

‘Baby, I’m coming to your place. Wait for me. I miss you.’

I keep falling for you
Just like a scene from a movie

The moment he walked off the train, his feet moved to the place. The place where he will meet his love. Feeling thirsty, he opened the coffee can and took a sip. He wondered how Sunggyu could drink this bitter drink almost every day. The second sip he took, it tasted a bit different. It tasted sweet. Maybe the thought of Sunggyu made it tasted sweet.

A smile came after the image of Sunggyu in his mind again. He continued walking, his eyes roamed at the stores besides him. His pace stopped as his eyes fixed on a jewelry shop. He remembered once Sunggyu asked,

‘How come you don’t want to tell your family about us?’ Sunggyu pouted as he slumped down in front on Woohyun at a table in the café.

Woohyun just eyed on him before answering,

‘Because they will tell us to get marry. Especially my grandma if she knew…we slept together.’ He lowered his voice just until it could be heard as a whisper.

Sunggyu blushed at the thought that they did slept together. But he shook the thought off his mind as it was not the problem now.

He just pouted when Woohyun was ignoring him. He was busy playing some stupid game in his phone. Sunggyu didn’t understand Woohyun. He was the one who ask him out and now he was ignoring him. Pissed off, Sunggyu stood up, wanting to go the washroom for a while. But before he could, Woohyun said to him,

‘Take me a spoon while you’re at it.’

Sunggyu just walked off the place- no more like stomping from the place. Just like always Woohyun didn’t even notice that Sunggyu was hot on his heels. Not feeling satisfied, Sunggyu went back at Woohyun. This time standing beside him. And it really took Woohyun’s eyes off his phone and on Sunggyu.

‘What’s wrong with marrying me?’ He asked. Depression was echoed in his voice.

Woohyun blinked his eyes a few times.

‘Nothing’s wrong.’

‘Then, why don’t you want to marry me?’

‘I want.’ His answer made Sunggyu blushed. ‘I really want to marry you.’

With his face tingled red; he sat back to his seat.

‘What’s stopping you from telling your parents?’ Sunggyu was dying to know the answer.

‘It’s you.’ Sunggyu blinked his eyes as confusion was all over his face. ‘I know your family won’t let you to marry when you’re still in college. So let’s wait until you finish college.’

Sunggyu just nodded as he bit his lips, preventing a smile from forming on his visage. He didn’t say a word or more like he was so happy with his answer.

‘Wait.’ Woohyun realized something. He leaned forward. ‘Did you just propose to me?’

‘I did not!’ Sunggyu protested it.

‘Yes you did.’ Woohyun teased him. ‘See even you’re cheeks are red.’

Sunggyu quickly covered his cheeks, pouting. Woohyun laughed seeing the elder’s reaction. But then he stopped laughing just to utter,

‘Let’s get marry.’

‘Huh?’

‘Let’s get marry after you finish college.’ Woohyun’s words were like sweet melody singing in Sunggyu’s ears.

He never thought Woohyun would actually propose to him. He nodded and teased him a bit,

‘You’re no romantic. Proposing without a ring.’

‘What to do? Someone in front of me is just too pushy sometimes.’

Sunggyu couldn’t help himself but to chuckle a bit and Woohyun smiled.

‘By the way, where’s the spoon?’ Woohyun asked.

‘You know I’m really going to dump you someday, Nam Woohyun!’

Woohyun laughed as he knew how easy Sunggyu could get angry every time he teased him. Sunggyu pouted at Woohyun’s teases.

Slowly, he entered the shop and really bought a ring. He knew there was still some time until Sunggyu finishes college. But this time, he wanted to make Sunggyu happy. He wanted to show Sunggyu that he really meant it.

Like those cool main characters
I'll give my life to you

As he walked out the shop, his phone rang. He only hoped for someone. But his hope failed him when he glimpsed at the caller ID.

‘What’s up, Hoya?’ Woohyun tried to hide the depression within his voice.

‘Where are you? Let’s hang up.’

‘I can’t. I’m going to Sunggyu’s place.’ Woohyun’s answer brought a bit shock towards Hoya.

‘But Sunggyu…he’s already...’ Hoya couldn’t put his words together.

Woohyun knew what Hoya was trying to say.

‘I won’t let him go, never.’ Woohyun could hear Hoya sighed through the phone.

‘I don’t want to say anything. But an advice from me; stop acting like this. Stop lying to yourself.’

Woohyun didn’t say a word until Hoya hung up. Woohyun couldn’t imagine a day without Sunggyu in his life. He’s everything to him.

Your pretty face is blinding my eyes
Your bright smile is just like the sun

Shaking the thoughts off, he went straight to the place. No one was there. Woohyun wondered what’s was the sun’s function when the weather was so cold. It was as if the sun was stingy giving him some heat. He rubbed his hands together to provide some heat to his body.

His feet stopped when he arrived at the place.

‘How have you been?’ He asked as tears were escaping his eyes.

Before he knew it, he was standing in front of a grave.

‘I miss you, baby. I really do.’ His vision was clouded as tears were in his eyes.

He couldn’t do anything. He was gone before Woohyun could do anything.

He placed the ring on the grave. His eyes fixed on the grave not knowing what to say anymore. He was hurt of course.

‘Do you want to propose to a dead kitten now?’

Woohyun recognized the voice before finding the owner of it. He looked around and he found him. He smiled.

‘Are you jealous?’

‘Who will not jealous when your boyfriend is proposing to someone else?’ The figure was pouting like always.

Woohyun didn’t say a word but smiled. He moved closer to the elder just to hug him. Sunggyu was startled by the younger’s action. It was weird for his boyfriend to hug him like this.

‘Woohyun…are you feeling fine? Or you just bump your head?’ Sunggyu couldn’t help himself from asking him that.

He broke the hug just to get on one of his knee. Sunggyu was dumbfounded when he pulled out another ring from his pocket.

‘Will you marry me, Kim Sunggyu?’

Sunggyu was touched and flattered. But somehow something spoiled his mood.

‘Do you really have to propose to me in front of your dead cat?’ Sunggyu asked, hiding his red face.

Woohyun just sighed.

‘Why do you have to complain so much, baby?’

‘That’s because you’re always doing crazy things.’ Sunggyu was telling the truth.

There was a time when Woohyun kissed him in front of Sunggyu’s parents. And there was time when Woohyun came to his apartment at 2 a.m , only to get a kiss from him.

‘Do you want to marry me or not?’

‘Of course I want!’ Sunggyu grabbed the ring fast from Woohyun when Woohyun tried to put it back in his pocket.

Woohyun grinned seeing the elder’s reaction. He stood up just to hold his hand,

‘Let’s go.’

‘Where to?’

‘Let’s get marry.’

‘Now?’ Sunggyu blinked his eyes.

‘Yes, now. I don’t want you to go threatening to dump me anymore.’

‘You’re too sensitive again. I’m just kidding. I won’t ever dump you.’ Sunggyu explained that he didn’t mean to say that the last time they fought.

Woohyun smiled as his eyes fixed on Sunggyu’s face.

‘I love you.’

‘Huh?’ Sunggyu was confused hearing he said that in the situation.

He tightened the grip at Sunggyu’s hand.

‘I really love you, so don’t leave me.’ Sincere was echoed in Woohyun’s voice.

‘I won’t dare to when it comes to you.’ Sunggyu smiled.

Woohyun just placed a kiss on Sunggyu’s lips, before saying,

‘Will you be mad if I say you smell like my dead kitten?’

‘Oh what the hell?! Just marry that dead kitten already!’ Sunggyu shouted before walking off the place.

‘Baby, I’m just kidding.’ That what Woohyun got for teasing the elder so much.

Like a shining star in the night sky
There's an angel in my heart
