I don’t really want to do a long journal for Mauritius, because I’m very tired and want to be more prompt with my India journals. The first day was a little disappointing because we spent a lot of time wandering around looking for World of Warcraft cards for the boys. That's neat that they spoke French. Kids that could speak relevant foreign languages (especially Spanish) did well on the trip. Unfortunately, the only foreign language I speak (German) was not really applicable in the countries we saw, although there are elements of German in Afrikaans, so I did okay in South Africa...but South Africa speaks a lot of English, so I didn't really gain much.

It sounds like you and Jason made the most out of your time in Mauritius. From reading the message board, it sounds like there were a number of kids that treated it like a typical U.S. stereotype of Spring Break by being wild and irresponsible. I'm very happy that you and Jason found some positive things to do there on your quick visit. How fun that you were able to test out your French!
