Stolen from
chorus, in an attempt to take a break from work.
1. First name?
Elliot. Well, Ilya, actually.
2. Middle name (if any)?
None whatsoever. I do have a patronymic, though, which is not quite the same thing. Eduardovich.
3. Were you named after anyone?
Not that I know of.
4. What are your nicknames?
Ilari, or Cunning Rat. (No, Dag, "bearded wonder-Jew" *doesn't* count).
5. Do you wish on stars?
No.
6. When did you last cry?
Last time I can remember -- last time that counted -- was last Beltane.
7. Do you like your handwriting?
Emphatically not. My handwriting is so chickenscratchy even I can't read it half the time.
8. What's your favorite lunch meat?
Bone-dry salami. Which you can't get easily here, more's the pity.
9. What is your birth date?
May 15th.
10. What is your most embarassing CD?
Uhhhhh... "Приключения Электроника". The soundtrack. (Don't look at me like that. I liked the movie, okay? Sheesh, some people.)
11. If you were another person, would you be friends with you?
Six months ago, I would have said "no".
Now... yes, I really do like the company I keep in the empty moments. :)
12. Are you a daredevil?
Heh. Not even remotely.
(I'm not blind, I don't have a red leather outfit, and I'm most assuredly not Ben Affleck. Thank G-d. :> )
13. Do looks matter?
A little. Not too much, though -- there are all sorts of things that matter much, much more.
14. How do you release anger?
I wait until the first flush of anger has settled into an icy core of calm, and then deal with the problem directly. Or, as directly
as I can -- it's not always possible. (Or I just let it go -- NOT a good strategy in the long run.)
15. Where is home?
Nowhere. I'm basically a tumbleweed, even though I try hard not to be.
16. Where is your second home?
Kiev... my beautiful city.
17. Do you trust others too easily?
I used to. I think I've swung too far the other way, though.
18. What was your favorite toy as a child?
My parents' bookshelves. The eight-volume complete Conan Doyle, the huge Jules Verne collection, a whole bunch of Russian authors... yum.
19. What class in high school did you think was totally stupid?
US high school -- gym.
Russian high school -- political literacy wins, hands down.
20. Which class in high school did you totally love?
US high school -- Shakespeare. Physics. Calculus.
Russian high school -- math and chemistry. It's a pity I never got to take the higher-level military prep in 9th grade: a couple of our classes were in the military prep classroom, and I *so* itched to get my hands on the sand table. Never did, more's the pity.
21. Do you have a journal?
No, ya lunkhead, I'm not writing this and you're not reading it. It's a figment of your imagination.
22. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
See #21.
23. Would you bungee jump?
Nope.
Well, maybe. And think "Why did I let X talk me into this???" the whole way down... and back up.... and down... and back up...
24. Do you untie your shoes when you take them off?
Nah, they come untied all by themselves.
25. Do you think you are strong?
I survive. That's what counts.
25.5 What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Mint chocolate chip.
26. Shoe size?
9.5 or 10. Something like that.
27. Red or pink?
Crimson.
28. What is your least favorite thing about yourself?
Asthma.
No. Correction. The "I have asthma so the world owes me preferential treatment" shadow. Frankly, if the whine "But I'm siiiiiick" never again left my tongue I would be overjoyed.
29. Who do you miss most?
A whole bunch of people.
cadhla,
chorus,
nrivkis. Beth and Aven, terribly. Even
cecylyna -- which is the funny part, 'cause she's right there. Theoretically.
30. Do you want everyone to whom you send this to send it back?
I'm sending this?
31. What color pants and shoes are you wearing?
Jeans. Grey sneakers. (My work is theoretically business casual, but (a) it's Saturday and (b) until I shed the prednisone-caused weight I can't fit into most of my business casual wardrobe.)
32. What are you listening to right now?
Meat Loaf. :)
33. What is your favorite band?
"Speckled". And a virtual cookie to anyone who gets the reference. :)

Uh..... when did I last eat?
Oh, right. A bag of baby carrots.
35. If you were a crayon, what colour would you be?
Orange.
36. What is the weather like right now?
A refreshingly brisk winter day. Wonderful.
37. Last person you talked to on the phone?
My coworker Mike. Exciting, I know.
38. The first thing you notice about the opposite sex?
Eyes. They also tend to be the last thing I notice. :)
39. Do you like the person you stole this from?
If I didn't like her, why on earth would I be reading her livejournal?
40. What is your ethnicity?
41. What is your cultural background?
Russian Jew.
42. Favorite drink?
Dr. Pepper, by the bucketload.
43. Favorite sport?
I don't play sports, and don't really watch them on TV. The last sports match I saw was curling. :)
44. Hair colour?
I have hair?
Oh. Yeah, I do. Brown, too long at the moment, and -- yes -- receding. Ah well.
45. Eye colour?
Blue.
46. Do you were contacts?
Nope. I look stupid without glasses -- at least I did last I checked. May be worth reassessing, maybe, although the thought of another vaguely-medical thing to mess with makes me want to scream.
47. Are you single?
Um. Maybe.
See, I'm poly... and I have a lover... but the problem is that she and I have no future together. And for lovers with no future, time is the enemy.
48. Favorite food?
See 'favorite music'.
49. Last movie you watched?
"The Rundown". Don't look at me like that, it was on HBO-on-demand and I couldn't sleep.
50. Favorite day of the year?
May 1st.
51. Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings, 100%.
52. Summer or winter?

54. Do you have any favorite rants, and, if so, what are they?
Nah, I come up with them as occasion warrants.
55. What is your favorite dessert?
Kyzyl-Kum, although the Negev is a close second.
Oh, wait....
Russian-style napoleons.
56. Who is most likely to respond?
cadhla. The Blonde likes memes. :)
57. Who is least likely to respond?
maillecall. Go ahead. Tell me I'm wrong. :)

David Allen, "Getting Things Done"
David N. Blank-Edelman, "Perl for system administrators"
59. What's on your mouse pad?
Crumbs?

Nothing. I didn't watch TV last night. In general, I only watch "CSI" and "Numb3rs" -- and HBO on-demand when I can't sleep.
61. Favorite smells?
Woodsmoke. Frying meat. Old pages and leather bindings.
62. Favorite sounds?
Music.
63. Rolling Stones or Beatles?
Beatles.
64. What's the furthest you've ever been away from home?
4670 miles, aka 7515 kilometers. I win. I think. :)
65. Do you have a special talent?
Perhaps. But I'm not going to claim any here until I have something to back them up. :)
