A TRACE OF PRIDE

Feb 18, 2009 10:32

In an ambitious country with constant hormonal rage, such as the Philippines, self-proclaimed artisans and model wannabes started to filter its portfolio.  However, only very few ones fit the roles and the tights. Fortunately, for a third world like ours, there are those who make our race proud. There is one, Proud Race.

The latest lookbook, for spring/summer 2009, of local clothing brand Proud Race can trigger these potentials out of these rare yet real characters.  Exhibiting subtle variations express identity without being over the top: the intricate details, delicate patchworks, and even a knit drop crotch in the trousers. The clothes speak of sophistication and artistry. It boasts of an attitude which do not need to speak.

The new collection is reminiscent of the appeal most unconventional high street clothing brands cater with passion. It won't be a far cry that Maisons de haute couture may get inspiration from the oriental standards that the collection has also induced through their metallic prints. Perhaps this is the fashion which Proud Race owns, one that feeds the poverty for real creativity.

Proud Race is for sure creating a statement this time. A statement which speaks louder than printed words.

On Earl motorcycle Jacket, overlapping shorts, black and silver tank

On Earl long zip up hoodie, wrap tank, knit trousers

On Kryon patchwork shirt, drop crotch trousers

On Kryon sheer cardigan, grey hooded tank, knit drop crotch shorts

On Marita one sleeved top, sheer tights

On Marita draped bubble skirt gold and flower print tank

On Krystal patchwork tank, gold patchwork leggings

On Krystal flower print tank, flower print tights

I can really see myself wearing the male pieces, especially that worn by Kryon because we're of the same frame (and even hair). I can't wait to get my hands on the patchwork shirts and those drop crotch trousers. I have very positive remarks with most pieces but I fret about their availability.
