Ten Year Reunion

Nov 27, 2008 23:23

I was recently contacted by my ex-classmates about my ten year reunion. My initial reaction was "Hell no!", but that was more to do with the date (23rd of December) and the fact that I'm planning on spending Christmas in Cork.

I would like to go, but it would be a nightmare to get from home (north county Roscommon) to Cork on Christmas Eve. There used to be a bus that went from home to Longford, then a change to go to Athlone and a final change to Cork (7.5 hours on a good day). These connections no longer match up, which means that the option is to go through Dublin and then on to Cork - a longer journey, doable on a good day, but Christmas Eve? May be impossible!

Beyond that, despite the cheese inherent in a reunion, it'd be a fun thing to go to. There's people there that I haven't seen in years - I kind of lost touch with everyone that I was in contact with after 2002 (worst year of my life). When we left school, we didn't have email addresses and very few of use had mobiles (in fact, my answering message on my mobile is ten years old), so, when we left, unless we ran into each other on infrequent visits home, we had no contact. See the guys I was in the band with and all that. Some other time then...

What about the rest of youse guys? Would ye like to go to your reunions?
