This is something that has been bothering me all day, no this has bothered me all my life but has been on my mind for the last couple of days. I haven't really talked to anyone about it physically because I don't really have the luxury of intimate conversation with people here; I don't really know where I stand socially with these other sailors. I get what you mean, I do talk better than most people, especially in the south; but one thing that bothers is when other black people ostracize me for the way that I am. It's so sad, I make friends with people I have common interest with, AND THEY'RE ALL WHITE, I really wish I could make more friends that were black who weren't from Uganda or Gabon. Like, they WANT me to be racist against my own. But as for your sleep patterns, I'll most definately make a note of your nocturnal activities.

I never really fully understood why skin pigmentation was used as a tool to group people into little groups, like cattle ( ... )

Yeah, I guess I have my mum to thank for not sounding southern, seeing as how she's from another country. Her opinions parallel mine to the letter, and now we've finally have one thing to agree on. I never knew that your dad was racist. He seemed pretty nice to me... but then again I am known for being oblivious to the world (at least certain parts) I've kind of always felt this way to a cetain degree, you know, but just now it seemed okay to voice it for some reason, I guess it's the rubber band approach. And I guess that hispanics, women and pretty much everyone else goes through this crap but still... they don't just lay back and accept it, or even worse, revel in it and try to claim it for their own. Like, who the fuck decided it was okay to say Nigger in a positive light? Why are we trying to reclaim that word? Whatever, I've gotten over it slightly, and from what I've seen from my Ugandan and Gabon(ese?) friends, it will get better overseas.

He's racist, but not in a "LETS GRAB SOME ROPE AND LYNCH SOMEONE" sort of way.
He mostly just comments or uses derogatory language. And he's always been cool with you cause you aren't ignorant, on welfare, or trying to get some baby's mama pregnant. He hates the "stereotypical" African American... Kinda fighting the same fight, in some twisted way...
He will go out of his way to be nice to anyone, regardless of skin color, if they at least exhibit SOME sort of intelligence.
