Not really fannish about Pac Rim either, though think I could watch it again. A few more times. I really loved all the characters, and I hope they make another one.
Need to reread all the Ile-Rien books. Tremaine ♥♥

Element of Fire is set several hundred years earlier, so no worries about missing things. There are a few references - for instance, there's a ship in the trilogy named after Queen Ravenna, who is a major character in EoF.
Death of the Necromancer is about Tremaine's parents, and it's somewhat more closely connected in that it shares some characters with the trilogy... but the plot is not related at all, and there's 30 or so years in between.
It's awesome to see a reference to the Ile-Rien books on my flist. I love those books, and they are so much less well-known than they deserve.

I love Martha's writing, the Raksura series was like it was tailormade to fit exactly all the kinds of things I like in fiction, perfect emotion/action balance, with the added bonus of really cool world building, and everything about the Ile Rien books seems the same way too.
