I sucked at hand-written journals, too. The novelty of it would last for a couple of days and then it would sort of fizzle out, along with the point of the whole thing. That's why I'm constantly amazed at the fact I've had my LJ for five years now. FIVE YEARS. I can't quite believe it. But I suspect I keep writing in my LJ because of the interaction and the fact that I'm not just putting these words down for my own benefit - I'm doing it so I can share them with friends and so I can read their words in return.
Your piece of inexplicable ephemera was quite fascinating - especially the way it turned up out of nowhere. And it made for a very interesting post, too. And there's another of the things that make online journalling more fun - you can bring all sorts of media to the party. It's not just words, it's words with a visual to make the recollections even more real.
