I've heard this from other PhDs. I wanted to get a PhD in art history once upon a time, but as you know, I didn't. Settled for the MS and got myself a decent job. I have a lot of FEELINGS on academia.
See and here is where I regret not going with my gut. I always felt like a PhD is something you do later on in life (unless like I said it is necessary for you obtain a specific job you want). Because to me a PhD shows that you are not only well educated in your field but that you have the years of practical training for it as well
