I grew up on Marvin's radio voice, but of all the people they could have picked from today's actors (who are known in America, especially), Alan Rickman is just perfect! As you can imagine, The Paranoid Android has long been a character close to my own heart (tied with Eeyore as my favourite character in all of fiction)... getting him wrong would have ruined the whole movie for me.

Heh, heh, heh, I already do. But it's actually a good sign if I'm casting myself as Marvin, the Paranoid Android, to mock my self-pitying ways--it's a way of cheering myself up. It's the same as how listening to The Smiths perversely makes me happier, since the extent of the self-recognition makes me laugh at myself.
