So, I am trying to figure out where on the bookshelf philosophy goes. I have a section for fiction, a section for poetry, for nonfiction, for reference, and for religious texts (we actually have several of those, due to the fact that Mike was a religion major, though I think at least one of them was mine). Ironic, given Nietzsche's views on religion, don't you think? Oh, and which book is it - I can see The Birth of Tragedy going in a different section than, say, Advantage and Disadvantage of History for Life or Beyond Good and Evil. But I tend to sort my books by height and thickness, since I have less space than you do to take the thematic route. *grin*

Yeah, that occurred to me too. Both parts. But it always seemed to me that philosophy was more like religion than anything else; it just started with fewer premises, generally, and tried to be logical about things. (I probably do not have the knowledge to actually make this statement, but it's what I thought.)

We actually have several Nietzsche books - Mike loved Nietzsche and therefore wound up taking several classes involving his works, not to mention writing his thesis on him. So yeah, it occurs to me that I could easily have a little bit of Nietzsche in various sections. However, I would kind of prefer to keep them together for simplicity's sake. Aside from the fact that I'm not all that conversant with the contents of the various books, Mike doesn't really believe in organization of books at all, and he might get a bit confused/frustrated if all his Nietzsche books were in different places. ^_^

I agree with botanicalmoment: Next to religion for hilarity purposes. XD Otherwise I'd stick it in nonfiction, but despite my dalliances with literary journalism and creative nonfiction, I still have a rather black-and-white view of nonfiction, soo.....^^
