I reached a milestone in my cooking career today. I threw a bunch of stuff in a pot without using a recipe, and it came out good. I had a bunch of carrots that I needed to use up, and also half a bell pepper, so I threw them in a saucepan with some tomato sauce and two cans of garbanzo beans, let it all cook together, and then threw in a whole ( Read more... )

Was talking to some of my gamer friends recently, and someone asked what you would roll for cooking. I immediately said Wits + Craft, while my ST friend said Intelligence + Craft. And then we spent several minutes discussing how there are really two ways to cook. I absolutely cook with Wits: when I use recipes at all they are more guidelines, and I'd much rather just toss in what looks right and figure it out as I go along. I don't have anything against people who cook with Int, but I'm glad to see that you have at least experimented with joining our ranks. *grins* Also, congratulations, you have just made your first Stone Soup!

It's always great when something like this turns out well. I tend to write down a rough "recipe" so I can remember it later when I'm out of ideas.
