Henry Cavill, Superman and Stuff

Feb 03, 2011 22:55

Zach Snyder and co have cast their Superman for the upcoming Man of Steel movie and it's the gorgeous Henry Cavill. My thought process ran something like this when I heard of the casting 1) He's British 2) So gorgeous 3) And he's British 4) So damn gorgeous 5) Seriously he's British 6) Batman and Spiderman are also British. Damn we're taking over ( Read more... )

I know!!!! *squeeeeeeeeeee*

He's going to be AWESOME! Hopefully, he can do a good American accent, though, because well, let's face it, he's supposed to grow up in Kansas, and not say things like, "Lois, you tart!"

As for Lois, I just PLEASE want them to pick someone who can act. And preferably has a backstory of being a blonde meteor-freak. Really, is that too much to ask? ;-)

*TWIRLS*

You were the first one I thought of Dawn.

HA! I don't think he's done many movies where he's had to put on an American accent. A lot of his work has been British stuff like the Tudors so I'm worried but if they cast him, they must be confident that he'll be able to pull it off.

I just hope he does well because I do not want to see him ripped to pieces by the press and the crazy fanboys/fanirls. And, please God, let the movie have a decent script because no one can save a dud like SR.

I don't want to see him ripped to pieces either, and you just KNOW a lot of people are going to do it (for example, the people who were deluded enough to think TW and ED would get cast)- whereupon I will have to come out with both fists flying! No one picks on Henry in my presence! ;-)

I'm totally biased, though, so really, he could just stand there in the costume for the whole movie and not utter a syllable and I'd be jumping up and down screaming, "Someone give him an Academy Award!!!

I really have no way of viewing this movie objectively. *g*

I gotta say none of the above, cause... my Lois Lane is totally Allison Mack. lol

And I kinda don't like the casting choice for Clark/Superman, but I'm sure I'll talk about that later on.

Why don't you have a "I don't give a sh*t" option? 'Cause that's the one I would have picked. :P

I do. I have no idea why I'm excited for this after years of Smallville but I am.

I picked Rachel McAdams because I lurve her. I love Deschanel too, but I think she would be a more quirky, Margot Kidder-type Lois Lane, which...well, I feel like we've already seen that. Loathe Jessica Biel, never see anything she's in. Rashida Jones has definitely grown on me in Parks & Rec, but I think she'd just be kinda meh as Lois, I dunno why. Olivia Wilde is like, wallpaper to me, I don't care about her at all.

Not in favor of Zoe Saldana just because as much as I like her, I don't want to see her in *every* good ingenue part in Hollywood. And Gabrielle Union is gorgeous, but she cannot act. She was in that terrible retread of The Night Stalker series a few years ago and she played every scene like she was still her character from Bring It On. Oooh, it was distractingly bad. I LOVE Grace Park, but I just don't see her as Lois.

You just summed up how I feel about Wilde. The most I've ever felt about her was at this years Golden Globes when she wore that gorgeous dress and sparkly shoes. Very lovely but otherwise meh!

I've seen others with the same opinion that you have about Zoe Saldana getting this role. This may all be moot point anyway as apparently the female lead won't be Lois according to Variety.

I'm pretty indifferent to the five actresses above... I want to be pleasantly surprised with someone completely out of the box / someone I never considered / an unknown.

I've not been following the movie news (out of general disenchantment with Superman due to SV), but are they indeed casting for Lois? I read rumblings that the movie is going to be an origins story, so I'm wondering if maybe her character won't be involved. Again thanks to SV I'm kind of over the shippy elements of the Superman story, so I personally won't be sorry if there's no love interest in the movie... but that's just me.

(BTW, hi, wandered over from the Chlollie comm. :))

I think an unknown would be their best bet for a role like this.

Funnily enough being so disenchanted with Smallville and its version of Clois, I find myself rooting for a reason to love them again like I used to.

But you're right. Variety are reporting that the female lead will not be Lois Lane and the three actresses, it claims are in the running are all blonde. Not sure what to make it. I wonder if it's the 'college years' and the lead will be Lori?

And hi ;) I recognised yor username :)

I just saw that Variety article today. All three actresses being blonde was also one of the first things I noticed. I'm not sure what to make of it yet, either. I wonder if they are creating an OC in the vein of Rachel Dawes ( ... )

Also -- I was rather unenthusiastic about the movie, but for some bizarre reason the knowledge that the female lead will likely be blonde has increased my interest. I don't know why. ;)
