Very interesting.

I would like to pose the question of whether your conscious or subconscious self is your true self.

yes thats always a question
but then you have to ask yourself how you define "your true self" because that also changes everything

Yes, that is true, so I'll stipulate that your true self is your "self" in a state unaffected by any outside stimuli.

you may be right.

because people have begun to ask themselves..."is reality TRUE reality...or is it our dream world that is the reality. when we sleep are we actually 'awake'?"

that might be the subconscious beginning to take over...making us believe that our dreams may be real.

omg

ill never sleep again ever.

Yeah, lol, that Margo always has that kind of effect on people hehe.

I just think that the concept of having a "true self" is a very limiting belief. Just imagine all the opportunities in the world that you would miss if there was such a thing as a "true self." It just adds a huge constraint on our ability to better ourselves and change which is essential for personal, moral, and spiritual growth. It also just leads to an infinite regress of questioning ourselves because there will always be doubt in our mind of what is our true self. This would probably just lead to depression or outright insanity if one were to truly became obsessed with the question. I believe that if there was a "true self," it would be within our will. It is in what we do in our lives and how we react when faced with tragedy and hardship, where our true self shines. I also personally believe that God is the only one who can ever know our "true self."
