Okay, I need you guys to listen. Close.

Fever Pitch.

Movie of the year.

Oh my lord.

Get a few beers into you, go to a midnight show, watch it, and take to the common, in the rain, to celebrate.

Red Sox won the series last year.

Red Sox will win it this year.

Fever Pitch.

See it.

NO!they took a great book by Nick Horny about Arsenal football and the psychology of fan-dom and turned it into some crappy love story about the red sox.

stupid!

They ruined a Nick Hornby book by making it sappy? Because his books aren't sappy?

Also, the movie is a genuinely good film. It explores the psychology of fan-dom, it's hillarious, and it commemorates the greatest accomplishment in sports history. Also, its an ode to Boston, and to Bostonians, and to their dedication to their team. The love story is done really well, it's genuinely moving. Fallon puts in a great performance.

As far as Hornby films go, this is the best. I liked About a Boy, and I'm a HUGE fan of High Fidelity. But this is the best Hollywood film (even though it was filmed in Boston) to come out in a long, long time. It's Singing In The Rain good. It's a bunch better than the all-style no-substance Sin City bullshit that everyone seems to think is such a masterpiece.

Seriously. Fever Pitch is great, and so are the Sox.

But at least you can understand why a movie about baseball would be so much fun, right? I mean, you understand the appeal of sports, and here is something that celebrates sports fans. Even if you don't like the team, you can understand the appeal to those who do.
