It wasn't too bad. I dealt with it matter of factly (although I fear I was a little rude as a result of being annoyed), and it was over and done with quickly.

I think it was a combination of language barrier, a little bit of background noise, and simple-in-the-headness.
But I'm leaning more towards simple-in-the-headness for Dry Ginger Ale lady.
