He needed to set up the movies?

My biggest gripe with the show was the lack of explanation. i.e.
1. what was the true purpose of the first 5 cyclons? they explained tie and helen but none of the others
2. what was Starbuck, other than the cheesy dove/pigeon imagery indicating she was an angel of some sort?
3. what was God's plan (and who was god, now that we know "he" doesnt like that name)
4. the opera house imagery maps to Hera being brought to back to the humans... i get that... but then the deal to end the cycle goes bust because Galen gets angry? doesn't he realize much more is at stake here and he can kill her later? now he gets to go live a hermit life because of everything? he didnt deserve that. also, did the cyclons get ressurection or not???

Just doing some reading about Caprica... if they are going to do a show about the creation of the cyclons, then the ending was a way to seamlessly move into that subject.
