If you continue to find his face uncooperative though, you can just paint a superhero mask on him. Then later you can say you thought he wanted the portrait to feature his alter-ego, since he so rarely has time to catch glimpse of himself in costume in his rush to save the day. :D
I know right He came to get it last night then said "..so how much do I owe you?" and I always get all nervous when people say that so I usually blurt out: "pay? oh pssht you don't have to PAY" then I collapse into a heap of regret when they leave
Asking people for money is one of the biggest things I had to get over when starting photography as a business. Even now, I kind of cheap out and charge a flat rate for my sessions and give them an entire disc of high-resolution photos for free...
Even if it's just $10.00, set a standard price for your work. You're a great artist and that's your free time being spent on commissioned work.
(What drove me to start charging was the fact that I spent 8 hours in front of the computer working on editing photos.)
