i have thought that a minority male president would come before a female president, as well... i think for me it came from looking at the history of suffrage in this country - non-white men got the right to vote before women did.

Hey, stumbled across your username while browsing lj, clicked it, and liked the point about knowing a man from a minority would get in before a female. I share this viewpoint!
Would you mind if I added you as a friend?

All of Hollywood also agreed with your viewpoint. Black men have been shown as president in a very capable, ordinary, no-big-deal kind of way for a while now. Whereas the shows that have had female presidents always seem to make a huge fuss about it. Oh my god, she's a woman, is she fit to lead us?! (Also, are there any examples besides Battlestar and that terrible show with Geena Davis?)

I've also always thought a black man would be president before a woman. Because I think men are still too scared of women having power over them. Not that there weren't lots of challenges for Obama to overcome, mind you.
