In another life, many years ago when living in Rome; I assisted the rich people who would spend fortunes on those pieces of fabulous design that myself only could dream of owning. The closest I could get was trying them on if I had the opportunity …just for the fleeting feeling of a dream. Closer than that, McQueens &mine´s relationship never went, but he has stayed with me as a source for inspiration - always a joy and a pleasure to watch something made by him.
McQueen stood out in his art, somewhere beyond Couture.. He was extremely talented and groundbreaking, unconventional in his mix of romance and futurism, decadence and purity, and his spectacular shows were always excitingly innovative and inspiring - almost cinematographic experiences, even for those of us who weren´t there to see them live. *g*
His fashion was to me like some punk rock mermaid - Contradictory Beautiful - Like airbrushed edginess and painted science and mechanical water.
He was one of the great icons; influencing the philosophy of couture as an art form, through his work adding something only his; a cathegory of its own, which is rare in the world of fashion. A dramatic visionary with both theatrical skills almost like a movie-director, alongside being a talented tailor; unique in his creativity.
There´s a hole in the fashion-world, a gap, an empty chair - the world now having one Great Artist, less.
I let the pictures and videos speak for themselves as my tribute to him.
THANK YOU & R.I.P.
