DESIRED CLASS & REASONING | Adept Rogue - Edge Punisher → Macabre Dancer
I had been attempting to figure out how to play around with the idea of Amaterasu being able to use both her weapons and celestial brush techniques, despite what her initial class may be. The more I read over the classes the more it sounded like it would be a lot of fun to put her in the position of being able to start off with one of her acquired swords and then, with the Job Change, be able to actually begin acquiring the Celestial Brush techniques all over again.
I chose Edge Punisher as her beginning since I couldn't quite figure out what class would fit to and make it easy for her to use her rosaries and reflectors; with this class, she'll be able to use her glaives, at least, once the required level to equip them is met.
As for her job extend, since Macabre Dancers are able to learn both offensive and defensive skills that actually went perfect with just how her brush techniques are laid out: a great number of them are offensive - Power Slash, Galestorm, Inferno - while a few of them can be actually seen as defensive - Rejuvenation, Veil of Mist. I will also go so far as to admit the thought of Amaterasu wielding fans would be really elegant and beautiful.
BACKGROUND |
The Game,
Amaterasu,
Celestial Brush Skills PERSONALITY | Despite what people may think up first glance (after all, who would believe that a wolf had some sort of personality?) there is more to Amaterasu than meets the eye. She is the goddess of the sun that appears to people in the body - and form - of a wolf. As such, she carries the grace and gentleness that a Goddess would, yet she does not see herself as somebody of a higher position than anyone else that she may come across. She treats everybody the same, she shows concern and care for her children and will do everything in her power to make sure that they are safe and sound. Seeing them hurt or upset bothers Amaterasu and, if they - or anyone she cares about - is threatened by someone who can be deemed an enemy or a threat, then she will do all in her power to protect them. After all, this is the wolf who went to stop Orochi from coming to power again and keep Kamiki and the residents there safe (not once, but twice).
She fought Yami to save the world from an eternal darkness.
There is no one person that is more important to her than any other; even if she does seem to grow closer to someone that certainly doesn’t mean that her care for somebody else has wavered. Not in the slightest.
However, it is a little hard for a wolf to get her thoughts and feelings across to people due to the inability to speak in human tongue yet it does not stop her from doing what she has to do. Body language and her expressive eyes can easily get across what is wanted to be said (that or Issun will gladly translate what Ammy has got to say. Though these translations may not exactly be 100% correct). Her moods are easy to translate as well. Tail wagging and ears perked? Happy. Head cocked to the side with a slight whine? Confused. Growling and ready to attack? Well…that’s definitely angry or offended, one or the other. Puppy dog eyes? An attempt to con someone out of their breakfast/lunch/dinner or attempting to show that she is innocent of an odd crime she may have been framed for. So just because she cannot speak does not bar her from attempting to converse with people around her because Amaterasu is quite sociable and probably a little too friendly. It is in her nature to help others and to more or less go right on up to them in some sort of greeting - whether it be she wants to bid them a hello or is just expecting some sort of of petting or treat to be given.
Though if someone gives off the feeling of hostility or a possible threat (or goes against he sense of trust that she has placed in them)? Consider yourself on watch.
She's also quite gifted when it comes to using the Celestial Brush Techniques, even though quite a number of them can be very draining on both the ink she carries and her, herself.
But just because Amaterasu is a Goddess doesn't mean that she's perfect. Oh, no, there are plenty of flaws that this ol' girl had.
There are times when her selfish desire to laze around takes over and she will just flop under the nearest tree to sleep or rest, even when there may be other pressing matters at hand. She is an absolute glutton when it comes to food and will more than happily eat another person’s portion if she finishes her own and it looks like they're either occupied with something else or it "appears" that they aren't going to finish their meal. Also? Her favorite thing to eat, among plenty of fruits and vegetables, is Mrs. Orange’s Cherry Cakes. They are delicious and Amaterasu could probably spend a whole day eating them up until a stomach ache occurs.
Also, Amaterasu hates to take baths or get herself wet; Issun had given her the nick-name “No Bath Ammy” during their partial stay at the Sparrow’s Inn and she really isn't the best swimmer out there. Her doggy paddle leaves something to be desired...
Amaterasu is also slightly competitive and finds a great amount of fun when it comes to racing or doing anything else that be seen as such - not to mention that she will get all proud, huffy, and pleased with herself when the victory is hers. (At least she's not that much of a sore loser. She'll just go right back on and challenge the person as many times as it takes until victory is hers.)
However, the worst part of her personality? Is that Amaterasu will fall right asleep if a persons decides to go into some sort of long winded speech or explanation of things. It’s easy to bore her with trivial details and if it's easy enough to get to the point in a few short sentences, or even just a couple of words? That would probably be the best bet anyone could have when attempting to keep her attention. She has even taken to falling asleep while an enemy proceeded to ramble on about one thing or another and that was probably not the smoothest move to pull.
Oh, yes, she also has a bit of a bad habit that consists of sometimes staring at a pair of breasts if they’re on the relatively large scale and up for show. As a wolf she can easily get away with it unlike her little inch tall travel companion who will get in quite a bit of trouble for even drawing any sort of attention towards them (at least, only if the person such "compliments" are being said to understands his meanings).
While she does her best to act as human as possible, there are those times when animalistic instincts kick in (after all, when you're in the body of a wolf such things are bound to happen). It is easy to anger her if she feels threatened or someone she cares about is being threatened/has been hurt and will proceed to bear fangs at an enemy, she takes to sniffing things before eating them and sniffs people as well - whether it is to show some sort of affection or just take in their scent, as to grow a little more familiar with that person.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE | [action]
[ In the middle of Mac Anu's square there is what appears to be a young woman with long, white hair pull up in a ponytail and pale skin. A pair of wolf-ears sit at the top of her head and twitch - swiveling back and forth, pressing against the back of her skull in thoughtful movements - and a tail (white, with the tip appearing as though dyed in black ink) protrudes slightly from her backside. ]
Ah...?
[ Amaterasu tilts her head in slight confusion as she studies the scenery with confused eyes. While she may be used to being spirited away through various means (such as nearly messing up the time-space continuum by venturing into the past via the Spirit Gate) this was definitely something that struck her as odd. This place did not at all resemble the Celestial Plain nor did it look like the interior of the Ark of Yamato.
When I woke, I did not think I would find myself in such a strange land.
A small frown creases her brow and her eyes narrow slightly as she forces herself to stand; her movements are wobbly and almost like that of a child who was just learning to walk at first, stumbling over her own footing towards fountain. What she sees surprised her: the reflection is not that of a wolf but a human. How long had it been since she had last been in such a form? Perhaps she had gotten used to being a wolf that this appearance felt a little uncomfortable and foreign, something that would take time to grow used to. ]
Mm. [ A sniff to the air, in attempt to catching a familiar scent of a silly prophet or, perhaps, that of a bouncy little travel companion. But there was nothing.
Oh, how troublesome... ]
THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE | From beneath the branches and flowers of Konohana, Amaterasu watches as a light drizzle falls over the quiet village of Kamiki. The festival had gone well and their had been much spirit and drink to be had; Sakuya's tree was in full bloom: the petals brighter than ever and even the wood nymph had regained her once-lost energy.
The sound of raindrops gently hitting the ground makes the wolf's ears twitch and she lifts her head. Droplets fall between the sakura petals and the more the rain falls the more her fur soaks in the water and it clings to her body is a messy state.
But this is peaceful.
She enjoys this.
Yet it is slightly worrisome on where Issun may have disappeared off to. After they both had joined in the old men with drinking and ate up their share of the festival's food, the two had parted ways for a bit. Amaterasu had wanted to go and speak with Sakuya - to enjoy the company of the nymph and the tree's radiant feel and Issun...well, he had just gone off to do his own thing. Perhaps he had gone off to go and pay a visit to Kushi and Susano? Or maybe he had accidentally gotten himself cornered by a cat. It really would not surprise the wolf if that was the case. Even if he was able to take care of himself and fend off such a beast with his sword, there was really only so much that an inch-tall Poncle could do.
So perhaps it would be in her best to interest to go and see just what trouble that he may have gotten himself --
The train of thought vanishes as she pauses her traveling, body falling still at the sight of one of Mrs. Orange's cherry cakes laying splattered and wet on the ground short of the bridge. It looks soggy and moist and beyond repair, not to mention it would probably be not too wise to eat such a thing (who knows how long it's been laying there!). Somewhere in the back of her mind, Amaterasu feels a slight feeling of dismay that such a thing occured; Mrs. Orange's cherry cakes had always been delicious and the little old woman put so much effort into making them. Seeing it discarded like this got a whine out of the wolf and she sat - butt parked on the ground and eyes locked on the cake.
And she must have been sitting there, lost in thought, for a couple of minutes because Amaterasu had not seen or felt the presence of Issun as he approached. The movement of him bouncing on the end of her nose is what brought the wolf out of her thoughts and she whines at him in curiosity. Where have you been, my little friend? Are you safe?
He grins that grin of hers and it puts the wolf at ease.
"Hey, Ammy, what do ya say that we get moving onto the next place? Those techniques aren't going to collect themselves, you know!"
Issun is right and the wolf barks in agreement.
With soaking fur and a new determination, Amaterasu stands and, without looking back, dashes across the bridge and out of the little village of Kamiki; they would travel for a long time, together, Issun and her. They would see many things and fight many battles. But somewhere, in the back of her mind during their journey, Amaterasu would always wonder whatever had come of the poor little cherry cake.
