Sean said, most people who bash metal, really haven't heard the best of it. For a FINE example. Unearth, just take a listen to "Failure" or "Zombie Autopilot". Eh, some people just might not like their style. I've heard a few bands that I think are good and I appreciate their talent, but I just don't like listening to them. Anyways, here's a few of my favorite metal bands, maybe tell me some of yours sometime.

I really like all of them, accept "death". It got EXTREMLY annoying after i finished listening to the first whole album.

jake, i may not listen to death metal, but i do listen to some bands u might call "hardcore"! haha
