And as for promoting .... I didn't, really. I think these helped, though....
-When posting icons in other communities, I posted "credit illusion_iicons" instead of putting my user name (if the community allowed that, that is)
-I posted the link to illusion_iicons in my icontest community
-I've made a few tutorials and have posted them in icon_tutorial so I think that's helped

The rest is just word of mouth I guess. Put examples of your work in your user info if you haven't already, I find that helps because people will want to join if they like what they see.

This all seems to have worked for me .... I've got almost 200 members and I've only been open a few months. Good luck!

Thank you for the little advise! I was wondering how you did it. Was looking into the same thing...a little bit of promoting.
