Yes, exactly. It's a town most likely somewhere in America, but no one can leave it. But there was once a mention of neighbouring towns in the news.

There is a way to get items and even abilities back, but I don't know how it works. Basically there is a letter or package sent to you once in a while, that holds items from your life before Mayfield.
