You're right, the target audiences are not the same. Or at least, they shouldn't be if SM wants to make money. DBSK was exactly the same way, and plus, their Japanese songs (aside from remakes and stuff like Purple Line) are all targeted for a more mature audience. About the skinny thing, I'm not quite sure how Koreans want their boys, but they definitely want manlier men. Jaejoong's Japanese fans told him not to work out too much after he decided he wanted to become more masculine (aka fit Korea's standard). :P
