I already downloaded this and plan to browse later :) I love the look of those icons together, so colourful and pretty! Btw, the third icon on the last row is by 00mina :')
This makes me want to start making an inspiration folder right now. The idea with the wallpaper is very cool as well, and they look so gorgeous, too! ♥
I just use to browse through my favourite icon batches from my favourite makers for inspiration, although I do have saved a couple of 'print screen' shots of quite a few of them on my computer, so I can look at them without having to search online for them first. That said, part of me always feel guilty looking at other peoples work, out of fear to get 'inspired' too much. Sometimes when I see an amazing icon the look or the idea of it just gets stuck in my head and, consciously or not, I might try to make something similar the next time I open Photoshop, even if I don't exactly plan to, but nevertheless it makes me feel like I would be stealing something. :(
This makes me want to start making an inspiration folder right now. Yay! I have so much fun with mine, I'd definitely recommend it.
I have a few posts saved to memories as 'inspiration' as well, but I use those more in terms of general style-inspiration, whereas with the individual icons I save, I focus more on that specific icon. I don't know, I just like to be inspired in all kinds of ways.
I understand your hesitation. That very issue was discussed a few weeks ago at iconsecrets, but in the end, you can't help the subconscious influence other people's work has on your mind. I've stopped caring - and if I end up making something which is heavily inspired by something, I won't hesitate to say so. Also, a lot of the icons I save are exactly of things I myself don't like to do: blending, heavy text, very complex icons. It might inspire me to try new things, but never more than that. But yeah, I understand where you're coming from.
Well, the folder is created and I'm sure it won't stay empty for very long now. :) *secretly ogles a certain elephant icon - shh*
Ah, yes, I think that's a good way to see it. It's not like I'd be trying to deliberately copy anything, and I certainly wouldn't want to stay away from people's works to not be influenced either, if that is even possible. Which I don't really think that it is. :)
