I can relate to where you are coming from.
I have had to deal with the same thing more times then I can count.
I know it's hurts sometimes, especially when the people adding fuel to the fire are the same people who you thought wouldn't.
In the end though, your real friends know what is fact or fiction and they will stand by you no matter what. The rest of them just end up making an ass out of themselves.
I hope whatever you are dealing with blows over quickly.

I don't care what random people think.
I am only concerned with the thoughts of people I value, who know me well enough anyway.

The trouble is when you figure out you were thinking too highly of someone who wasn't worth it.
