Well, turns out that Jesse's check was short. Something didn't go through right or something, and we were way in the red. Then, our bank account was overdrawn on a stupid over-charge. SO, I called the bank and got the charge reversed. yay me, 40 dollars back, enough for Jesse to get home from work and put a tank in my car. Success
