How very sad. Lovely, but so painful. I'm sure his loss would feel like that.

That was just lovely. It was sad and hopeful all at one go. The POV was excellent. I will always hate that she killed off Fred but this is lovely.

"Don't live for me. Live for yourself and I'll live through you."

That did it for me *bawls*

Thank you for writing this, it more than made up for that blink-and-you'll-miss-it death scene. Agh, I felt so cheated there! But this is lovely and hurty and the images of the baby turtles making their way valiantly to the seas, lovely lovely lovely.

Lovely. I don't have words to express it.

This is my favorite part:

And every time he would laugh thinking about Fred's wry observation. Every single time. Trudging up the Himalayas, lightheaded in the thin air, gazing stupidly at cairns and multicolored buntings, he had barked a hoarse laugh. Neck deep in mud in an unplottable jungle in Belize he had laughed until he nearly drowned. Alone and naked in a filthy hut he could not remember getting into, quetzal feathers around him and scratch marks on his back, he had laughed until he cried. "Shut up, Fred!" he had shouted to the empty room. "I'm doing this for you! I'm living your life too!"

The first (new) fic by you I've been reading for years, an you make me cry. Of course. I shouldn't be surprised. This is as heartbreaking as it is marvelous. Great. Novia. Bravo.
