The Color Purple-4 Tess of the Durbevilles-2 The Bell Jar-4 Ulysses-3
If you haven't read D.H. Lawrence's Lady Chatterly's Lover...it's a 3 at least. I also recommend Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf? It's entertaining and goes by fast. How was Life of Pi?
I've read 63 on the list The Secret History by Donna Tartt. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it for your reading list. It was her first published work and it's amazing, I couldn't get into her second book however.
I remember hating Great Expectations when I read it in high school. Maybe that was just because I had to read it or maybe because that wasn't written as a book but as weekly installments. Basically the guy got paid by the episode and it was in his own best interest to drag things out.
I've been doing a lot of book-swapping lately. I've cross-listed my unwanted books on paperbackswap, swaptree and bookmooch. (I get a little carried away sometimes.) Now, I have a pile of books I actually want to read and I'm motivated to actually read them so I can swap them again. I never used to get around to reading. I actually like to read a lot of non-fiction, so now I'm alternating fiction and non-fiction books. I'm reading Watership Down now.
