It's all good stuff!suezequeSeptember 18 2010, 13:35:03 UTC
I love this episode too.
Wet Illya, wet Illy, wet Illya, wet Illya.
3 - I know we should be looking at the joyous look on Illya's face as he contemplates his bowl of soup, but my eye is actually caught by Napoleon's pose as he scans the bookcase behind Illya. It's so natural. I love it!
5 - Illya just can't keep his eyes off that food, can he.
9 - Classic Napoleon pose. Love that too!
14 - Along with the classic Napoleon smile.
16 - Illya's lips, wet from kissing, I mean eating. Sorry, imagination and all.
27 - Shhh! Love it!
61 - Almost the Barrett lip, but Napoleon just can't quite get it. I still think that David is related somehow.
75 - Doesn't look like Illya/David.
89 - Now there's the Barrett lip. Go Illya!
89 - 94 with emphasis on 91 (a bit of leg and Napoleons bunching trews)
95 - Love the naughty boys shot. Illya ties his tie, Napoleon drops his drink like it's on fire. Love it!
You know, first-season Illya has not only the most adorable accent (I love the way he says "aspirins") but a very distinctive syntax as well. Part of the charm of his one-liners, I think; I wish they hadn't switched to the more American style in the color seasons.
(Have you seen the rather hypnotic animated GIF of Illya eating soup? It cropped up on either Yum or the Canteen a while back, but I can't remember which...)
Yes I love European Illya, I imagine him talking like that all the time!
It is so very charming somehow, the different reaction of the two lads to the wonderful Elsa's offer of food; Napoleon so sophisticated (a cup of coffee, how very abstemious), and the Russian so very direct (if food is offered, eat it, immediately, because you never know . . .).
Mmm, Mr W's drinks cabinet being raided by the boys - LOL! I do wish they had continued all these little touches into later series, they make it for me.
