Oh hi.  So, due to the fact that my friend Cynthia has proposed a weekly Lost TV-viewing night, and that Cynthia and I both made New Year's resolutions to be more social, and the fact that I have a cat-crush on Cynthia's cat and will jump at any chance to go cuddle with him, I have decided to start watching the show Lost.  I've never watched it,

I figure it will be like when I started watching Alias a few years into it and was just all "Ok, sexy people are running around and shooting at each other, there they go again, cool."

Wow, I wouldn't advise starting Lost at this point given so much depends on what's gone before (and isn't terribly interesting unless you know what's gone before).

Tonight's recap special was pretty good at catching people up with what you need to know for what's going on now, and yet there were a zillion things missing from it.

I guess if you find it interesting at all, you can check out the DVDs or watch the episodes online to fill in backstory. I know there are some shows where that's more fun, I'm just not sure Lost is one of them. Will be curious what you make of it and how it works for you.

I actually had a great time watching it. I'm usually so methodical about watching my favorite shows (i.e., watch it in order, no spoilers, pause it or wait for a commercial to talk) that it's naughty fun to watch it the "wrong way." The lurching pace of "everything here is totally fucked and just got a thousand times weirder" is still entertaining even though I know there are obvious cues that I'm missing. It might be DVD time. As long as it's fun! Did I mention fun?

Now if I knew someone who was taking this approach to The Wire season 5, I'd be all "NO NO UR DOING IT WRONG!"
