This fic is so great; it's by far my favorite among the current Klaine wip's. This chapter was perfect after the agony of the last two; getting other characters' point of view and seeing their reactions. I'm really disappointed in Burt, though I can see how he would react less "perfectly" than when Kurt came out, since he's had no chance to prepare himself.

Thank you! <3 In canon Burt is so often portrayed as this "perfect" dad, so it was tempting to write him as straight up accepting in this also, but - to quote Burt himself - he wasn't "in love with the idea" of Kurt being gay, so I felt like acceptance without any struggle would have been unrealistic here. He's not *not* accepting, but he's surprised and wary of what it all means and his main priority is Kurt. We haven't heard the last from him though, I promise. :)

I sometimes get impatient between your updates, and sometimes it can seem like not much is happening, plot wise, when you do update.

BUT.....this chapter is a perfect illustration that your pacing is appropriate for THIS story. We needed to get an idea of ND's reactions, and they were spot-on by the way. Finn bumbling through all confused, Brittany even more confused but always accepting, Mike just laid back and non-judgmental. And the group as a whole just reacting in their usual chaotic way.

I also enjoyed the scenes with Blaine's mother, and I'm glad we got to see her and Kurt developing a relationship based on more than just passing pleasantries.

I do feel that all those factors are important in the overall fic, and happy you took the time to detail all of that. But I'm still holding my breath to see what happens when Blaine goes back to school on Monday. Please update soon!

I do see where you're coming from with "not much happening, plot wise". The story grew a lot beyond it's original twelve one-part chapters, and although some plot was added later, it was mostly character stuff that was added, so I can see how it might feel like the plot is dragging in places. I'm glad though that you think that it ultimately works.

There's still one more Kurt-centric update, and then I promise it's back to school! :)

Great chapter.

I had a cool experience this weekend. I was at an academic conference on gender studies, listening to a bunch of scholars and activists talk about same-sex marriage. When trans rights came up, I had this neat little synthesizing flash: "Oh, yeah, ilovescarves89 totally nailed all those points a few chapters ago in Beautifully Wrong!" The issues weren't just familiar to me because of your story, but emotionally resonant.
