Very nice chapter; the talk between Blaine and his dad was very well written. This is kind of how I imagine Blaine's dad in canon; clueless and a bit distant, but not in any way evil like he's sometimes portrayed in fanfiction.

Thank you! I agree about Blaine's dad in canon. I see his parents as being absent a lot and probably not really knowing how to deal with Blaine but not as homophobic monsters. I'd love to see them tackle that on the show.

awwwwww bonding. a beautiful and necessary talk.

and the box scene will never not be incredibly romantic.

:) It's been a long time coming, yeah. Silly Andersons need to learn how to talk to each other. :p

I was so glad that I could make that fit in there even if I did have to change some of the dialogue. (also, I was writing the first draft right around 4.04 which made this scene rather bittersweet to write :/ )

I'm glad Blaine and his dad had this talk about how gender, sexuality, and individual preferences are all different things. I remember that's something that I questioned in a comment early on in this fic, and this chapter answered a lot of my questions.

I'm glad it did! :) It's something that confuses a lot of people - me included, once upon time (I thought I couldn't be trans since my sexual preference includes guys), but at the end of day it really isn't that complicated. ;)

Loved the inclusion of the ring and how it was to thank Kurt! I teared up a bit during Blaine and his father's conversation - it was so excellently written, and their words were just honest and perfectly conveyed their selves and I'm so glad for the progress!!!

Thank you! I loved getting to include the box scene and giving it a bit of context (which, let's be honest, as cute as it is, it really doesn't/wouldn't have in canon). I was just sad I couldn't come up with anything significant for the gum wrappers. :p
Yay for progress! And just in time for Christmas too! :)

Great chapter! And

"who I am, who I like, and what I do - they're three separate things."

This was such a great way for Blaine to help his father understand . . . I agree with other posters about Mr. Anderson, too. I think, based on what we know now of Blaine and Cooper, that he's not at all some evil, never-present father. Oblivious, just like the boys ;-) So nicely characterized there.

Thank you! I completely agree about his father as well. I like to see him as kind of clueless and bumbling and perhaps rather distant, but not some evil, homophobic monster. Though I'm curious how the writers imagine him (if at all :p ), and I hope they delve into Blaine's family more at some point.
