I think The Lion King was onto something with that whole circle of life thing. I guess Mufasa can't live forever - Simba's gotta learn to fly on his own sometime.
I guess when you're young you have the perspective that you'll live forever, death is so far away from your mind. Unless you're some goth, but even then death is something safe and controlled, not the monster that just sweeps in unforeseen.

I find such words very wise, after I go to funerals I see that death is waiting for me, and it makes me try to live everyday that much better.
I believe this whole heartedly. Going to a funeral for someone who commits suicide hits this home harder than ever. You really start to try and live better when an act of such selfishness causes hundreds of people around you such grief. Then if you ever though about it, it's nixed from your mind upon seeing such things.
