[Unlike the rapid and stilted way he talks during the day, the thoughts broadcast by N's PORTAL are measured and clear (if at times accompanied by seemingly random images of his Pokémon friends). This is a way he's more comfortable communicating.]
Hello, my name is N Harmonia. I have some questions. [Akito had given him some good ideas for what

As for love, well, I don't know about any of that.

That does sound useful to learn. I'd like to meet the rest of your Pokémon friends as well.
Romantic love is a very complicated matter, I am coming to learn. I don't believe I understand it any better for having asked.

Of course! I'll bring them all! We'll see if I can get Flieger to sit still long enough to meet people.
Hmm.... I think it's something you have to find out on your own, maybe?

That would be wonderful. I'll bring all my friends as well. I'm sure they'll enjoy playing with each other.
I believe that must be true. I have been given much to consider. I will have to take my time to determine the truth in my own heart.

I ain't a trainer either, but it sounds like a nice idea.
...Love's kinda complicated.

[N nods, his smile fading into a more serious expression.] I am coming to see that. The love I grew up with is simple and pure, but this romance is another matter, and people have very different things to say about it.
Reply
Romance is like that. Don't think ya can even really begin to understand it until ya feel it yourself. ...And even then it's still complicated.
Reply
You've experienced romance for yourself, then? It seems to be different for all people. What is it like, for you?

For now though, Touya begins to speak, his Larvesta snoozing quietly in his lap as he pets at her soft white fuzzy coat.] A Pokémon club? I think that sounds like a good idea, actually!
To be honest, I was thinking of taking a time to explain to the network and people here about Pokémon and learn more about 'animals.' [There's a familiar smile.] But I think forming a club is really an excellent idea, especially when you bring those points to mind.

I am glad you like the idea. My new friend Akito suggested it, and I thought it would be worth trying. I hope you will come as well. Explaining to people via the network is also a good idea, as not everyone would wish to attend a meeting of the club.
[N considers the matter of animals. He is slowly coming to understand them.] "Animals" are like Pokémon in a way. They are pure-hearted. Their minds are simpler, their thoughts less like ours. Some are more easily directed, some wilder and harder to reach. They do not have the same kinds of abilities, though some can attack, and they can be very strong.
[He's distracted from the topic at hand by the Larvesta in Touya's lap.] How is Taiyou?
Reply
Akito, yes, I've met them before. I think it's definitely worth trying really. And I'll be sure to keep the explaining as planned then.
[Quiets for the moment, taking time to listen to N's explanation. It probably helped when it was coming from someone who understood Pokémon.] I see! That makes sense, I hadn't considered they would be that different.
[There's a soft look while he reverts his attention down to the Larvesta.] She's fine, she had been exploring most of the day so she went and tired herself out heh.

I still have much to learn about animals as well, as they are new to me too, but I will share whatever I learn with you.
I'm glad she's doing well here. My friends have been eager to explore since we arrived. They haven't been frightened by the change. [N pauses, thinking that since he is talking to Touya now, he will have to try what Harper advised him to do, to make amends with him.] Touya, may I take you to dinner?

And, um, I can't really talk about human love but I could tell you about our quadrants if you like?
Reply
I too know very little about human love. I was raised by other species. I would be pleased to hear about love as you know it. What are these quadrants?
Reply
Well the quadrants are what we have for romance. They're based on the two key emotions of pity and hate. Here, let me draw you a diagram.
[And she holds up something resembling this]
The red ones are pity and the black ones are hate. Okay so far?
[Because there's a lot more to come]
Reply
Pity and hate? [N considers this.] Why were they chosen as the two key emotions? Is it because they're the ones you feel most keenly?
[In spite of this question, he nods, because the chart is simple enough to read.] Yes, I understand that.

[May taps a finger to her temple, and looks puzzled for a second.]
Hm.. I dunno how to describe love, really. I've never been in it! I guess.. from what I've heard, you take what you feel for your Pokemon! But.. it's a little different. A different kind of love, you know? Like, you just want to be with them all the time, and kiss them and stuff. Or something like that.
Reply
[N listens carefully to what she says about love.] I haven't experienced that either. So it is like what I feel for Pokémon, but with the addition of actions like kissing? [He remembers being kissed on the forehead by Anthea and Concordia, but he doesn't think that's what May means.] That is much simpler than what some others said, but I like that idea.
Reply
[May ponders what N said about love for a moment before replying.] Kinda, I think! I don't think it's supposed to be simple, but.. I don't think there's really a way to describe it right. Hm..
Oh! Maybe you could read a romance novel or watch a movie, or something! I bet that'd explain it better than I could!
Reply
So it is complicated. But perhaps has a simplicity as well. Perhaps it is like mathematics, which begins with simple matters of straightforward addition, but there are many very complicated operations to learn once one advances. Yet they are all part of the same study.
Oh yes, my friend Akito is going to give me books and show me movies about romance. I'm hoping that will help me to understand it better. I have so much to learn.
